The post scarecety model of ED is a lot more interesting. Shows the true weakness in humans. There's 400 billion star systems and ships that can cross them in less than a day and you still have to plant your little flag on some rock to claim it "yours".
Yea but this random crap RNG system is also not a crafting system. Its just the easiest way to implement new items in a game. You have a Data Base full of items available and you attach a random chance to obtaining the item after said action has taken place.
This game takes place in the future so the who WoW crafting node thing wont work either. However we can be told where to get said items and have a guaranteed way of getting them. Not this wish upon a star crap that we are doing now.
But back to the point at hand.
Until there is a true crime an punishment system then combat logging is legitimate. We know both sides of the combat log and needless ganking sucks. No need to go back and forth on the matter. Instead solution the issue like title of the post is suggesting.
