I am angry!

But common... destroy the ship because of loitering.. at least give a warning what the punishment will be...

Some of the penalties in this game seem to be over the top. This is one of them. I found another, but can't think what it is now, that when it happened I thought this is totally unreal and crazy as a punishment for this kind of infraction. Whether you use the DC or not it's not a reasonable reaction in my opinion.

If you listen to the announcer lady inside the docking bay, she does say "Remember, loitering is a capitol offense. Have a safe day."

Doesn't matter what she says. It's a matter of reasonable penalties proportionate to the offense. Get parking ticket, police SWAT team shoots you.

I filed a ticket, 50409, which may not get any action but at least I tried.

I was flying to a station with a big investment to sell, request docking rights and the auto-docking kicked in. Halfway during the docking I got a "Loitering" warning but I thought it was a mistake and within 30 seconds the auto-dock must be docked by now. Well.. the 30 sec went over and I wasn't docked. I was inside the station and it began to fire at me and the auto-dock disengaged because I was under attack.. 5 secs later my ship was destroyed.. I am very angry.. I just lost all my credits because "loitering" is punishable by death! Common.. give me a fine or something.. but this is stupid!!

Yes it seems to harsh, especially when game bugs cause your death.

I would like there to be a standard fee of, for example, 500 credits for loitering and on top of that 10 credits for every second you loiter, with a visible counter on your HUD.

agree that this needs a lot of work still. there are far to many times when another ship is blocking the entrance. Perhaps the answer is a in and an out lane for the stations which would mean a bigger aperture.

I won't be handing control over until it is working correctly.

For me it is one of the major nostalgia items from the original elite

There are already "in and out lanes" on every station with an aperture entrance. There are three lanes in use:

Green lit entry/exit lane
Central lane used by auto dock
Red lit entry do not enter/do not exit

As with everything else in Elite though, you'll probably want to be looking as you use these lanes, in case anything is in the way or taking up too much room :)
