I am going to keep harping on this until you put it in the game

Always hopeful. I don't want the game to be the way I want. Just some improvements.

That is not what I see in your threads.
You have been advised before concerning certain 'issues' you mentioned.
You do not seem to follow the advise given.
Instead you keep repeating how you want the game to be and very often formulate this in belligerent, negative language.

FD listens to sensible critique if you use constructive language.
They have made numerous changes already in response to their fans.
But this is no guarantee that they will do everything everyone wants all the time.
In the end it is their game.

Yes, I would really like that type of boost mechanic in ED.
Or perhaps a combination.
A short press is a boost like it is now.
Press and hold would be a boost like you describe.

Finally some people actually getting what I am talking about, YEAH!

NPC missiles rarely form a threat if you have power to shields an/or have point defense and/or chaff.
I have not once been destroyed by missiles, but I have been fired upon with them countless times by npc.

In many situations you will want to pre-select an 'escape star' before the battle, just in case things go south.

My last battle with my mission target and a federal navy ship, the navy ship was firing missiles and I was getting message stating that and then my ships computer was telling me about all of the systems that were going offline.

Sir, you need to read the manual. If you've already read it, read it again. And do the tutorials. Lol

I'm not even sure where to begin with helping you, and I can usually help anyone. Lol

Do you use point defense and/or chaff? These devises are in the game for a reason. They are very effective.
Do you put enough pips into shields?

You do not need to set a target to enter SuperCruise.

Yes I explained this on the first page but the OP is either wilfully ignoring the information or trolling, not sure which yet, but he is getting awfully close to being reported for trolling.

The OP has star selected and refuses to deselect it so he can jump into Super Cruise in stead of Hyperspace, some people just can't be told how to do things.

You don't even need to de-select the star to jump to supercruise.

Only gamepad, Y is Hyperspace, D-pad Up + Y is Supercruise.

:)

Quite correct Cosmicspacehead, you can have a separate key for HS or SC, I sometimes forget because I only ever use the one, it's pretty quick to deselect and reselect your targets so I haven't bothered to map that key on my PC. Often on a planetary surface I will just enter SC to escape before even bothering to select my hyperspace jump to save time in case it is blocked. There a number of ways to do it and each has their own preferred method, but I think spitting the dummy and throwing a tanty on the forum is probably the least effective way to enter SC I have ever seen! :D

Perhaps you already know this, but in your setup you can also set different buttons to sc and system jump.
If you do that you will always be able to go to supercruise, even if you have a star selected.
This method is preferable, because you will never be taken off guard that way.

edit: Ah, cmdr cosmicspacehead already gave similar advise.
I do not use a gamepad, but have my HOTAS setup that way.

If you had an Afterburner that boosted your speed for longer then the current Boost, wouldn't the people shooting at you just use theirs to stay with you?

No, you would be moving very fast for the AI to realize that you have gone.

I'm pretty sure there is already the ability to look around the ship... I use head tracking and VR, so have no need for the hat thing, but I know I used to use it way back, just needs you to bind it.

As for afterburner/boost...

It has been brought up before that it would be cool if boost work on a "press and hold" system. Basically you press and hold the boost button, and it'll keep the boost speed until you let go - but... You will be draining the engine capacitors as you do so. So having larger capacity distributer for engines means you can boost longer. Faster recharge means you will have to wait less time to apply boost.

Engine focused distributers would be far more interesting in combat, too...

Z...

No, there is not one. Headlook allows you to look around inside the cockpit. I want to be able to look around the outside of the ship to see who is shooting at me. To see if there is anyone around my ship. As in a potential enemy.

Wow! Sounds like someone is a really really angry person.

Afterburner hmmm sounds an awful lot like boost to me.

Looking around your cockpit? Oooo Oooo there is a thing called 'headlook' I suggest you investigate that a bit more. I use the middle button on my mouse and have no problem checking out my cockpit if I don't have my head tracker working.
Markus54: I COULD care less about looking around my cockpit. I want to see around the ship. My anger comes from posts like yours

If you are such a space sim fan then you shouldn't have any problem with the control methods used in ED. Heck even my 11yr old daughter got the hang of it within half an hour..
I don't have any problem with the controls. All of mine are working quite well with the T. Flight setup in the controls panel. I couldn't be happier.

Headlook pitch and yaw can be bound to individual axes or you can bind pitch up/down and yaw left/right to individual buttons. Needless to say you could use vJoy for one or both of those axes if the buttons don't suit.

It's nice to see you can't read.

Pretty much everything the OP wants is already in the game. The exception being a transparent ship that he can see through. Still there is the external camera option.
Markus54: And where is this option to see externally. If the POV hat is working properly you can see above your ship, to the left and right side of the ship and to the rear. This allows you to see who is shooting at you when there are to many ships on the scanner.

The rest of the whine seems to be about "I want this faster" and "I want arcade style power-ups".
I had arcade style power ups back with fury cubed in 1995. I have advanced with several sci fi sim games since then. I will say that the flight mechanics in fury are still much better that in Elite Dangerous.

OK.
Get a HOTAS and map a few buttons.
Markus54: I have a hotas and ed has a setup for my particular stick. It works quite nice

You can have quick boost,
Markus54: Most times I find boost useless. Like when you are being shot at by more than one ship. Or the horizon of the sun or planet is blocking your destination. Also you can use afterburner while waiting for supercruise to kick in. It takes at least 5 seconds to get into supercruise. While your getting shot at you are destroyed. Now you have to buy a new ship missing some modules. Wasting precious credits. Whereas an afterburner will get you butt out of a hot zone until sc kicks in. Saving your butt. But your limited game experience show that you can't see such things.
quick SC entry, even headlook on a Pov switch.

But look, there's more!
Get a Rift or a Vive and look round you by turning your head. Can't afford VR (which is a fair and understandable criticism)? You can get an ED tracker for about £10 - maps headlook to um... Your head.
Markus54: I could care less about looking around my cockpit. I want to see what is going on around the outside of my ship.

But hey look! There's more!
Get arcade style power-packed by visiting your friendly neighbourhood engineer...
Use the camera suite to look behind you (even in combat) though tbh the radar is better so...
Markus54: The scanner is a problem when there are 20 or 30 other ships around. Yeah look for the one with <> around it. But if the scanner is full you're going to have a hard time finding which one and where it is when your being pelted with missiles and laser fire.

But hey wait... There's even more!
Come to the forums where our very own expert a-holes can mock and ridicule your inane suggestions while at the same time offering advice (from their comparatively limited experience of course) on how to do it better and without looking like a total noob!

And all this for the low low price of... Not being a troll!
The total noob is you! The only game that you have obviously played with your attitude is ED. People like you are not any help just a lot of aggravation.

Well thank you. In future I'll be less foolish and not try to help you.
I advise you to do likewise, though I fear it's too late.

LOL you are one angry person :p

Everything you have asked for is already in the game.

Looking around cockpit - Check. I do it all the time.
Looking around outside you ship - check. Again I do it all the time.

As for using the external view to check on your enemies....bah I suggest you learn how to fly and fight at the same time many people can do it.

If you still can't be bothered to actually learn how to play go play EVE as it already has a default control method of external view but you get to 'fly' your ship in EVE.

The only real problem I see here is that the game does not automatically enter supercruise when the hyperspace destination is blocked when using the default "J" key. This is an inconvenience. It's just silly that we either have to de-select our target or bind a separate key to enter supercurise exclusively.

It is my sincere hope that this annoyance will be fixed in the coming QoL update(s) following 2.4.

I would hardly consider that a "real problem". It might at most be a small inconvenience as there is already a simple and very useful alternative.

Supercruising in a system and jumping out of a system to another one are two entirely different actions.
The mere fact that FD already added the option to bind these actions to different keys/buttons is a great convenience.
If you use the two keys/buttons you will always be perfectly sure about what your ship is going to do.

Well you see, having a 1st person viewing a sim isn't very realistic. As our illustrious OP said, it should be like driving in real life where you get a 3rd person view of your car and can see traffic both ahead and behind. Those who can only see from the driver's seat and in the mirror are to use his own words "Total noob".
