I don't like the new ice worlds.

Remember what Frontier promised.

They lied.

Thanks for posting that - absolutely shows the flattening in effect, how it's removed any significant elevation variation, and how trivial it has made flying around at low level. And that's the best you've found so far.
This game has sunk to sad levels.
cant please everyone why would any one land here lol

It actually is!

But I don't touch fast food with a pole these days, unless I see it on the side of the road and I want to check if it's still alive or not.

There's some dodgy clause about realistic expectations. I pretty sure there was a precedent set with one of the chains over their burger photos, but can't remember who.

There was/is a case about chicken nuggets not being 100% chicken breast recently if I remember correctly, but not heard the verdict.

Alpha clearly looked better so this really makes me wonder - did they do this on purpose to try lessen the performance issues? Or is it a bug? I hope it's a bug because this means it can be fixed and probably pretty easily, otherwise changing it on purpose means Odyssey is a straight up scam and FDev should get sued.
I am uploading new footage from the witch head that will put your mind at ease it takes a while for youtube to render it thou

It's so inconsistent.

There are areas of high density rock clutter, and they look very good. One thing they've VASTLY improved is making these rocks actually blend with the surface (a very annoying thing for me previously)

Again it's hills that just look really nasty. The texture just looks stretched and doesn't blend at all well with the rest of the landscape-- which is unfortunate as they look very good at distance.

Well I don't have picture caption, but yesterday I flew over 6 km mountain. And it was not tallest on that planet. Very flat indeed.

Surface at different distances... (And yes that's a dormant geyser at the bottom of that crater.)

And I'm just going to leave this one here, because... I just can't...

(Yes - the recall autopilot did this...)
Anyone claiming that that looks better and more realistic than Horizons terrain is crazy.

Yes, well those are still small hills. In fact we should be seeing huge mountains on small worlds because the planet itself isn't limiting how tall they can get. I've yet to see a proper mountain range that has peaks as tall as Everest. Yes, many will be like Olympus Mons which is a very gradual incline, but there are some moons that have very precipitous mountains with jagged edges. Not just mountains either, but canyons that have vertical sides.

I mean just look up Wiki's page on tallest mountains in the solar system. Formations should more often be more extreme on smaller bodies because there isn't plate tectonics and a water cycle to plain everything down.

I have wondered multiple times if things are really 1-to-1 scale, as in a 7 mile high mountain is actually as big as it would look in reality. I've never seen anything that's as tall as the 'mountains' we get in the UK.
