I feel empty after the beta

Something would be worth doing: when the final patch notes come out, someone should compare those (and all the 4 beta patch notes before) with all the main points raised in the feedback forum. With very few exceptions (Mamba's heat issues, mining payouts, single button to enter/exit FSS), I really haven't seen many actual changes/revisions inspired by the feedback given. Bug fixes, sure -- but actual changes?

Ed spent about 5 minutes going through all the player suggested changes in a recent stream. There have been tons. If you even look in the patch notes you can see changes that were suggested by players. The only ones who think that FD don't listen are - perversely - the ones who don't listen to anything FD say to them (while also complaining that FD don't say anything to them). It's all a tad bizarre.

I was never under the impression that this update was open to major changes based on user feedback. Frontier scrapped the "Focused Feedback" forums, and rightfully so IMO, as they never really change major aspects of the game once they have committed to implementing those (C&P being a perfect example). At least they are no longer pretending to listen to us in this regard.

Now ignoring bug reports, that's just wrong. If the actual release is full of the very bugs that people have spent time reporting during the beta, then I think Frontier will deserve the salt they get. Unfortunately Frontier's reputation when it comes to fixing bugs is pretty rubbish.

They have a certain number of people and a certain amount of time. They'll prioritise based on that and fix what they can with those resources, starting with the game-breaking ones and working down the list. More will get fixed in patches, based on the same principles. The ones that don't get fixed will still be on a bug list for future work when resources allow, probably not with the priority that you personally were hoping for, but still on the list.

Consider yourself lucky. I always feel empty.

Well, okay, maybe half-empty. Or would that be half-full?

Great. Now I feel empty and confused.

As said above, the difference to an AAA studio would be that you never knew that ice planets or squadrons were planned in the first place, simply because they refuse to communicate with their customers. Most AAA titles these days represent unimaginative copy & paste products that usually don't work at release, have lots of core features cut to be sold as DLC, several pay to win mechanics and a very big marketing budget.

Let's not forget that kickstarter funded this game and it released as a fully priced game stripped deliberately of content sold instead as paid for cosmetics and DLC called Horizons, which was also paid for.

People say the updates are free, but let's not kid ourselves. We have paid for the lot! And a lot of those updates have been broken in their own right.

Elite has had some rough moments where FD were guilty of clearly not testing their product to identify obvious flaws, glitches or imbalances.

Remember the AI update? That should never have passed!

So if they don't release on the 11th (you know, in order to fix more bugs before pushing out this update), does a fairy fall down dead?

Actually Kickstarter didn't fund the game, it was David Braben who funded it. Kickstarter only provided a fraction of the initial development costs and even less if you consider the development costs which came after release.

They said “thank you” many times in the livestreams. In fact so many times that I felt it was almost too much. They were/are obviously very grateful.

If David could have provided the funds, why did he con a considerable numbers of people into giving his company money for said Elite Dangerous through a KickStarter?
