I hate minigames!

the only mini game part of E.D. for me is when im docked i sometimes play the time to make a cup of tea mini game or the harder but more enjoyable try to make wife or daughter take pity on me and make a cup of tea iron man mini game mode, everything else is as the OP pointed out not a mini game, but an important seamless part of the game.

Try the iron man mini game though sometimes you win sometimes you get slapped high stakes indeed!

Have some rep sir,we enjoy the same mini games.

Iron man tea challenge!? You two are hardcore. Respect.

A true mini game is like playing on a fruit machine in GTA.

Mining, flying, shooting, silent running etc are all just depth and variety.

Triple Triad from Final Fantasy was one of the greatest minigames ever.

After the FPS elements are implemented perhaps I can go to the bar in a station and play futuristic card games against other CMDR's and gamble for credits.

It should always make sense, we need that simulator feel going! No gimmickery and fancy-schmancy features wanted! Well, a casino or something would not be entirely unnatural. They always pop up in Sci-Fi settings somehow. ;-)

Space racing with obstacles? Target range? Hide and seak in the asteroid field?

Depends entirely on the context. Hide and seek would certainly be consistent with the current mechanics at any rate. All the components seems to be supported. The rest sounds tutorial-like. It would be odd to have that stuff randomly deployed outside the designated space cadet training yards, or whatever you would call it. Hehe...

Minigames just seem to have a bad rep amongst some gamers. The word got tainted because of bad experiences. Being a gamer myself I can understand that.
If you make a proposal on here for a cool gaming mechanic never ever use the word 'minigame', because many will immediately explode because of the terminology used :).

Language. It's important.

I like minigames.... So long as they are optional and add to the richness of the over all "life" in elite.

The thought of gambling in bars or other random "stuff" in elite really interests me (again so long as it is entirely optional)

but I do agree elite does not HAVE minigames at the moment, and I would not like minigames to be part of the core elite experience (by minigames I am thinking ending lockdowns in warframe, picking locks in skyrim or hacking cameras in bioshock..)

I think about mini game as something optional you can invest time into. Interdiction are huge part of ED gameplay, as anything else really....so no, it's not a minigame.

What up Jeff.. :)

All the mini game comments seem to just seek to undermine elements of the gameplay. I think there are some things worth putting ones energy into where others are not. The forum seems wide open to trolling atm as well given we don't need a game account to post, so like much of these things its probably worth ignoring.

At the moment I'm too busy enjoying ED to care what the small minded nitpicker really thinks. ;)

I'd say, the maxigame is flying a spaceship and using it to do things like trade, fight, mine and look at sunrises.
Anything not done by spaceship seems another game to me. A minigame if it's small, a different game if it's big.

I hate minigames. A minigame is something like a puzzle or whatnot added to the main game, things like lock puzzles in RPGs are a classic. This is not the same thing as a function. A function is an integral part of the experience.

Interdiction is a function. Not a minigame.

Docking is a function. Not a minigame.

Scooping is a function. Not a minigame.

These and others are all integral parts and functions of Elite Dangerous. We don't need to keep breaking each function off from the whole and calling it a minigame.

That is all.

lol, I've never witnessed someone raging so hard about something so trivial. Minigame or not, it's a nice addition to the game. I can understand why someone might consider it a minigame, it's cool dude.

Minigames but no external view.... Whats the next thing from x rebirth?

Whats going on inside Frontier? Same chaos as in the beta 3 changelog?

I'm with Jeff. I've hated the term mini-game from the moment someone assigned it to docking or supercruise.

The only term I've developed a major dislike of more than mini-game is 'blah blah blah ruins immersion for me'. The forum does not permit me to express my dislike for that phrase, and those people, in the language I would prefer.

I'm rather enjoying the Outfitting minigame. I just wish the QTE events that come with it could be removed. ;)

NOTE: There are no QTE events in ED, just in case anyone kicks off! :)

I don't care for the minigame thang as many people know. So I might rant a bit here. Apologies :)

<Push Iain's big red button mode on>

I've heard nearly almost everything called a minigame at one point or other.

  • The Docking Minigame
  • The Mining Minigame
  • The Supercruise Minigame
  • The Fuel Scooping Minigame
  • The Cargo Scooping Minigame
  • The Outfitting Minigame
  • The Missions Minigame
  • The Starmap Minigame
  • The Trading Minigame
  • The Exploration Minigame

They are game mechanics, not minigames!

What's left in the game to not be a minigame?

The only thing I've not heard referenced as a minigame is combat. I've never heard anyone mention "The Combat Minigame".

What that says...?

I'm not sure.

Hahahahaha hahahahaha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

I get my own meme! I hate minigames, but I do love memes. I use them all the time in creating fun little adverts for my school, either taking the mickey out of myself or colleagues.
