I hate the Neutron Fields !!!!!!

My problem,as some know, is I get bored quickly.

Then why do it?

I explore for eath-likes, ammonia worlds, water worlds and gas giants with life. My thing is finding life. I don't need credits; I've already got a really sweet Asp explorer.

Were you just grinding for credits? Hey, being a grind and then complaining that you're bored is basically saying you're a boring person.

read the first post before you make you self look even more ***** :D

It's probably going to take me a long time to reach Elite, I refuse to 'farm'. I just explore. I wander in a random direction and just spend my time enjoying the sights, exploring the systems and trying to understand them. It'll take me far far longer to reach Elite this way, but I think I'll have more fun on the way.

I completely agree. Wandering aimlessly, going in circles or finding new things unexpectedly in an uninsured Asp was very entertaining for me. Unfortunately - can't play for the next week or so, Dr's orders after a workplace accident :(

I'm in the odd position of not needing to go there for rank, or for placing a name to a neutron star (I found a few during my brief stint in the downstream Orion Spur).

That said, while the principle and stated aim of neutron field grinding seemingly goes against every notion of the idea of exploration that I had when I started playing, it is something I will need to experience for myself before passing full judgement. It would also make for good practice of full sector surveying and hyperspace exit etiquette.

In any case, once I go and have had my fill of the place, I intend to make up for it afterwards by continuing even more journeys elsewhere. The adventure never ends.

If all you are doing is farming neutrons - jump, scan, jump etc... It's boring as hell.

i choose to use neutrons as my pathway, Currently on the far side of the galaxy, working my way towards a nebula via neutrons and black holes. I scan everything that looks interesting in each system - and usually, I don't need to stray as sooner or later, there will be a scoop-able star in a system with a neutron.

There is nothing quite like the need for fuel to make you SC 480k Ls to scan a star and its' orbiting planets.

There does come a time, of course, when There is too much space between neutrons/black holes, but that's ok, I use that as an opportunity to search for water and ammonia worlds, and the odd Earthlike.

TL: DR - jump and honk is boring gameplay, no matter how much you earn.

Z...

Are you folks talking about jump and honk, or detailed scans, when you talk of moving through the neutron fields? I just arrived at one near the core and (after changing my shorts from seeing a BH 1.93Mk from my front window while exiting the jump!) don't know if I want to take the time to scan. every. one. If you're detailed-scanning that many, my hat is off to you!

Pah, stuff the neutron stars, I am still looking for a moon made of 100% cheese. Mind you I would take any cheese percentage at the moment. The galaxy lacks realism if there is no moon made of cheese.

Yes, detailed scan but it doesn't take as long as a normal scan as you are 0.22ls away - that way you get the 36K Cr + the finders bonus that takes it up to ~70K Cr (not sure on the exact figures) you can get a full, hop/scan/plot next/hop cycle to 60 seconds or so - but it get's really boring - I ended up doing about 40 in an hour last night (two systems where there were ELW that needed visiting)

The channel i'm following is a mix of regular stars/neutrons/white dwarves. I'm around 1 kylie in with 7 kylies to go before I head towards Sag A. Probably got around 200 NS/WD scanned out of ~930 systems visited.

We need a cookie planet. An entire planet made of cookies.

agree 100% , and Credit values are in this chart.

Definitely can feel the grind. Headed to Sag A*, 1000ly below the galactic plane. Smack in the neutron fields, but just plodding through. I'll probably stop on the way back and rack up some easy cubits.

But as I was heading to the Greae Phio cloud, above me was a sea of O and B stars. I've seen some of the posts with pics of a string of O and B stars. I saw thousands of these. So, I've traded in wandering through neutrons to wandering through Os and . They're just a few hundred LY below Greae Phio and are just as dense on the galactic map as the neutrons are in their fields.

Loving this game, but the love of shiny objects will probably keep me from reaching Sag A* for months. Nice job, ED!!

I went to Sag A* for the adventure, but I'm farming Neutron stars on the way home for cash.

I'm sick of being poor (only 20m in the bank since Premium Beta), and I want that Clipper!

It is boring though....not as boring as trading, but certainly not fun. As long as I don't frak up and lose all my data, it will be worth the slog.
