I Have Arrived! (Sag-A*)

It took me a lot of nerve to go there, but I did it! I traveled to Sag-A*, and brought back pictures! I know that some of you might wonder what the big deal is, but I explained in a post way back about a terrible fear of dark things like black holes, but at the same time I wanted to go there to see if I could do it. Well, I did, and I'm now parked in the next system over deciding where to travel next!

I know this might sound silly to some as well, but I was struck speechless when I arrived. I jumped in and there it was, bigger than life. It looks incredible on a 24" monitor, so I can only imagine what it must look like in VR. Regardless, I was impressed. I stayed in the system for a while, just looking around. That said, I kind of thought the center of the galaxy would be a LOT brighter than it seemed. Then again, it could have been all the cosmic dust, I don't know.

Anyway, thanks goes to FDev for the fantastic experience, and thanks to so many of you for encouraging me, back when I was still a fresh CMDR, to head on out there. It has been worth the trip.

NOW ON TO BEAGLE POINT!

Congrats man!!

Oh if you see a red/yellow lunch box floating around there, could you pick it up? I think I lost it there last week:D

And I think you left the gas on.......

Now I'm laughing because I have this picture of a floating red and yellow lunchbox, just traveling through space to the tune of the Blue Danube waltz. lol

Thank you, CMDR. o7

o7 CMDR.

o7 - did that a year back, didn't go on to Beagle but good on ya for doing so!
Fly safe out there.

Thank you, CMDR, and likewise. o7

Congrats! The explore bug is a fun one to catch....see you in the black, commander.
Thank you, CMDR.

Fly safe. o7

o7 CMDR! Now you must do the obligatory "how close to it can I get before my ship melts" game ;)
The correct answer is "almost too close" and "AAAAAAAAH!" :D

Good luck on the rest of your trip o7
Thank you! I'm hoping to go to Beagle Point, and then head out to the far "Eastern" section of the galaxy.

congrats. passed near there today on my way towards Beagle Point :)
Maybe I'll see you up there! :D

Congrats! I've been close but didn't feel it so I headed back (wasn't my goal). I might set off again that way eventually though, if I get the right build (might never happen lol)

Congratulations. I got there and then couldn't find the willpower to go any further. I traveled down to where the Neutron fields are did a bot of scanning then hightailed it back to the bubble. That trip finished off my Elite rank in Exploration. The only way I'll ever see Beagle is through other people's screenshots in the forum..

You could always join via multicrew during Distant Worlds 2 ... though there isn't much to see at Beagle Point that you can't see anywhere else (its the journey not the destination, etc.)

Thanks for this +Rep dispensed.. I completely forgot about using Multicrew as an option..

Thank you to everyone for the congrats! While I was out this way, I decided to reach for the roof of the galaxy. Of course, I couldn't go all the way up there, but I did manage to reach system QUEMIE FF-A E11 (-85.8125 / 2803.15625 / 25835.09375), which is at least 2,700+ ly above the galactic core, and the view is just breathtaking:

Congrats! and +rep

Curious about your ship's jump range and how long you've been out.

It's a credit to Frontier and the game that, unless I'm mistaken, at any point in the the black, the view around you is purely made up of things which are actually there to be visited.

I'm not sure how many other games out there (and yes this is a game) can say that on this grand a scale. No mater how many there are, I wish there were more.

I remember Chris Roberts making a comment similar to "See that crater on that planet. That's bigger than the entire map of Skyrim.".

If Cmdr Braben was not friends with Chris and was actually competing with him, he could say look at that map of SC, we have the space of 400 billion of those in our map.

For people who are into the space, this is the game.

Indeed. If I go into map mode, I can see every single one of those stars as destinations. It's mind-blowing when you think about it, and while I was up there, I did stop for a minute, taking a pause to think about just how truly small we are.

Good job Coloratura, you caught me in the middle of the edit. Not that it hard to do but, it doesn't happen as often lately it seems.
