I have been replaced as System architect!!!

I was named system architect after spending 25 million credits and deploying a beacon. and the next day now i am not. I thought it was a bit strange because after deploying the beacon no colonisation ship showed up. Granted, this is a beta, but am i going to get my 25 million credits back???

Somewhere in that post is a line that says no resource refunds, so his answer is correct. However I have no idea if the 25m credits count as a resources.

I understand that. But i lost being a system architect because of a bug, not because i let the build time-frame elapse (which is 4 weeks, by the way). I deployed the beacon well within the allowed time-frame of 24 hours but no colonisation ship was deployed. So I thought there might be a delay so i waited until the next day.. I WAS assigned the system architect for some time, because another player noticed and asked me about it approx 12 hours later. So when i logged in the next day, hoping to see the colonisation ship, i had been removed as system architect for another player!. Very frustrating!

I can understand why it's frustrating (it would annoy the hell out of me too), but it's a beta and all beta's have issues. I have seen lots of post with the same issue. It may or may not change when the Thursday tick gets processed (a lot of people are waiting to see if that fixes the various problems). Hopefully it will for you (don't hold your breath though).

It's frustrating stuff like this that makes me wait, I can't afford a new monitor.

The bugs i can handle (Beta, so expected) and its not a huge loss. But it would be reassuring to know if i would receive my 25 mil credits back

Only suggestions I can make is wait and see what happens Thursday or put in/vote on a bug report (there is probably one there already as you are not the first with this problem).

There are several bugs still bedeviling players at this time. I've seen one obviously inhabited system have TWO colonization beacons.

Best advice is to sign up with the Trailblazer CG:

Make sure you sign up for the TRADE CG first before delivering your first batch of cargo. Even one ton delivered will make up for your losses.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding of the situation is thus:
If 2 CMDRs attempt to lay to claim to one system more or less simultaneously, they will both be tasked with a quest to deploy the colony beacon with a 24 hr timeout. Whomever deploys the beacon last will be named sys-arc. If this is how it works, I would suggest waiting 24 hours after you deploy a beacon to see if someone else attempts to claim it before making any deliveries of construction commodities. This way you will at least avoid having any progress be stolen. Shame about the 25m, but you can make it back quickly just by scanning 2 tectonicas' worth of bio.

I think the 'No Refunds' statement covers the fact that they said you are participating in a 'live beta'. They said they would only rollback in the event of a crapstorm. From my review of the forum there is a strong low but it's not quite intense enough to form a crapstorm yet but you never know how the winds gonna blow.

In my situation there was no colonisation ship to deliver any construction commodities to - so at least I didn't lose any progress from that score. But shouldn't it be the first one to deploy the beacon to be named as system architect, not the last person?

You have no way of telling who actually requested the claim first due to the 24 hour overlap so my guess is that the last person to plant the beacon overwrites whatever existing state there is. It's entirely possible for someone to get the quest before you and then plant the beacon after. I think it's only after an initial beacon is planted that further claims can no longer be requested. Again, this is mostly speculation as the disparate claims of systems being subverted don't really converge around any prevailing theory. I do not believe this is an intentional exploit but rather accidental oversight on how the sequence of events should play out. Another possibility is that since you mentioned no colonization ship came to you when summoned, this gap in the chain caused an automatic failure somewhere and opened it up for a competing claim. The colonization ship being a no-show could be because someone else had already requested a claim before, or after, you. It could also be due to the jump schedule being completely out of whack since we know colonization ships are persistent in a manner (they return to previously established space after completing a construction effort and leaving).

Anyone with better information, please feel free to share.

And as an aside, 24 hours is silly. It's literally within 15 LY - one jump - so give players 30 minutes tops to plant the beacon and we should hopefully see less of this.

Let’s hope the analysis of these colonisation flow bugs is completed soon, so meaningful fixes can be applied without delay. It’s not unusual for new mechanics in Elite Dangerous to launch with issues—especially when flagged as ‘Beta’—but that label only offers so much cover.

What’s particularly frustrating is seeing players invest time, creativity, and excitement into becoming the architect of a system, only to have that achievement taken away due to unexpected bugs or perhaps even intentional design quirks.

For now, I think it’s sensible to step back and wait until these problems are either fully resolved or at least clearly explained. There’s little point in investing further time into a system that might shift beneath your feet.

You know what is really odd about all this is that... in a proper beta, costs and materials would be reduced to accelerate the testing phase. Instead FDev chose to supercharge the requirements with an eye for toning it down later. This way much effort would be wasted with any unforeseen issues. I can't say I understand the thought process behind this.

Claim jumpers!

Think of it as emergent content. IRL shady things happen and people lose out with little recourse.

Also, how would you feel if you had started delivering resources/building, only to be told that you had to hand over control to a CMDR that had their claim jumped by you.

It will all work out. Sometime.

silly question maybe, as well as placing the beacon did you also place a outpost to build? I thought the sequence was claim->becaon->buildable placed. When I did mine I did that process in quick succession. After chosing to build and outpost the colonisation ship showed up 3 mins larter. The way the first post reads it seems expected a colonisation ship to showe up after just placing a beacon.
