Yeah, they only said it explicitly and then showed it in the stream. Surprising stuff indeed! You can also downgrade 3:1. Anyone with an inkling of creativity immediately sees how this system massively works in our favor. As in 'insanely ludicrously so'.

As this is a beta test it might be useful to give arguments for what you like or do not like.
If the arguments are convincing then FDev might listen.
FDev have already implemented so many changes as a result of comments and ideas on the forums that the chance of them tweaking stuff is quite high.

Roll out some modules and see how it flows and drop feedback in forum. This is something FD can and will most likely tweak.
My biggest complain so far is remote workshop blueprint limit. To make it viable, needs more than one module and more than one grade. 3 x 2 would be ok.
If it's anything more than 4:1, I predict game will fail.
For the avoidance of doubt. No one will ever swap up. Only ever swap down. Horde class 5 to trade. But if I wanted to example how incredibly disconnected from reality and player investment, the current materials trader would be it.

Honestly go do some engineering and come back when you’ve actually spent some time engaged in the mechanics you are endlessly commenting on. It might help improve the objectivity and provide some context. Fly safe.
I did. Mats trader doesn't ruffle my feathers, liking interface, seems like I have collect tons of mats in my last six months. Pinned blueprints would be nice to have way more. Other than that I am really ok with what I saw.
On what planet is 1:81, one way, versus 7775:1 sane the other. Did you even look? We can only carry 100 of each material, which means any trade with a factor of greater than 100:1 is illogical nonsense and might as well just be capped at 100:1.
