Wake up... Wake up! ... Sorry back in the room :)

Where are you getting this from? Or is this sarcasm that's just flown over my head? :S

I've seen plenty of NPCs use heat sinks and drop off the scanner, due to them losing heat. And I've yet to see them use silent running.

Never said they didn't.. I said a lot i've checked had no heat Sink Launchers... And regardless; It's still a frustration that is not needed. You target the powerplant, the half way thru the ship disappears, and then comes back and you have to reset module...

It's a pain in the posterior.. And anything that frustrates players... Will eventually lead to a loss of players.

If they are planning to improve exploration why havent they started any threads to discuss ideas or debate them. Only thing I have seen was sandro,s off the cuff musings and all I got was more rng or some added mini game.

Shake it b/c believe me when I say I've sampled EVERYTHING the game has to offer, even ranked 5 in PP for Bubblegum shields. My focus is narrow, on your specalative comment at present. Don't assume anything about anyone, it's simply naive.

So you've "sampled" everything the game has to offer. I get your point but that really doesn't mean anything out of context. Aside from your comment about getting bubble gum shields and rank 5 in PP, how advanced are you in everything else? "Sampling" other aspects of the game doesn't really mean anything, other then perhaps strengthening my point. Which was that most pure explorers are more or less ignoring the rest of the game in favor of exploring. So what if they've decided after a few hours in a RES that combat is boring? Or that a few times running missions that they're boring and shallow? Or that mining is tedious and not for them? Etc. If not ALL explorers, then certainly most of them fall into this category, and in my book that equates to ignoring 99% of the rest of the game.

I struggle to reconcile the focus on one small section of the available gameplay with the complaints that not enough time and effort is being spent on developing that area.

And I consider myself to be primarily an explorer!

They haven't actually announced any changes or plans for improvements to exploration, no ETA's and no gaurantees. They have announced core improvements to the game after 2.4, and many of us hope this means exploration development. Sandro has been musing lately about theoretical scanning changes, so it's a strong hint they are really thinking about finally working on exploration, but it's just that: a hint. To date nothing official has been announced.

We most likely have a good year or so until we see any actual exploration improvements in game, possibly longer, so it's probably too early for any Frontier threads on it. I'd look for Frontier to maybe start discussing exploration things after 2.4 is out and done with, so looking like early 2018 at the earliest. I'd love for it to be sooner than that, but it probably won't be.

But, to date, nothing has been officially announced about anything. How is exploration getting shafted when it's being treated the same as everything else?

After exploration receives this dev eventual love, can I get in line for them to actually focus on PvP for a change?

What more does it need? You have ships, weapons, and Engineers. There was an entire patch just to establish the PvP approved Meta. PvP is a sidecar here, let it go.

I have to go to work now, but I'll share a quick hit with you before I leave: players should erupt into a shower of engineering goodies upon destruction, high end data & materials that are ultra rare. I wonder what the odds are that this might become a thing?

I'd say Piracy could use a lot of attention. Both PvE and PvP. Make it engaging enough for both pirate and trader to have an interesting confrontation. The upside especially for PvP would be that the PvP would be in context of the game, instead of merely wanting to shoot hollow squares.

Don't agree with that, since that would just create more player killer incentives and add to the meaningless PvP.

Low low low. I can see no way that FD are going to add prizes for blowing up Traders.

Maybe FD will make a special Decal for those die hard PvP players. One that is easily recognized, and permanently displayed. It can be used to identify those that need that special kind of attention only snowflakes can get now. We could hang it on their backs when they aren't looking. (Which isn't often, due to their immense powers of noticing.) It could have skulls and crossbones, and it could say, 'Block Me', in Cyrillic letters.

Dude, that's a great idea but you've got it backwards.

When a player gets PvP killed then THEY should get showered with high end engineering goodies - then you PKs will actually have some targets willing to get shot up :D

Careful Mohrgan, I'm going to get the impression you like me and secretly approve of my ideas if you keep that kind of talk up!

To make PvP life better ? I am all for it. But good luck populating your PvP "Arena"...

The best way to truly encourage PvP would be to implement a C&P system where players could really become criminals with all the repercussions (bad karma, bounties, banned at stations, need to operate out of indy or anarchy systems), and THEN couple it with an overhaul to Bounty Hunting, implementing better ways for player BH's to track down player criminals and engage them. Implement a real time "sighted" board where wanted criminals spotted by security forces could be browsed along with thier bounty values, allowing hunters to choose targets and travel to them relatively quickly to attack. Conversely, any bounty hunter who enters an anarchy or pirate base system could be "tracked" on a pirate board just the same, so that player killers could go after bounty hunters and such.

You'd end up with commanders playing the criminal lifestyle on purpose just to "attract" other commanders playing as bounty hunters enforcing justice, and vice versa. A perpetual tug of war between the criminals and the law enforcers, resulting in active PvP all over the bubble.
