Ships I really want a Type-10 - but what for?

Thoughts?

For your Scout-Build: You may get some caustic damage, so it’s good to have something to quickly overheat. Your build is relatively cold. Fire two SCBs and caustic damage is gone. You don‘t need Point Defence, they do not target caustic missiles. When your AX Multis run out of Ammo you can use normal MCs.

Suggestion for doing lots of scout NHSS:

There are also universal guns, but they are only fixed.

high/haz res pirate mining, either for massacre missions or just giggles. Ideally with at least a couple of mates and some fighters.

Alternatively scout ax, as mentioned above. Great fun.

Some use the T10 as a general mission runner/material farmer though, which might be fun. When you run out of mats and go signal source hunting, or get pirate lord missions for the mats.

Also, don’t forget to put some gold in your hold to attract some company. Makes it all much more fun :)

Yep, I'm having some fun with a variant of the scout AX builds posted earlier. The Packhounds are unfortunately pointless. I had hoped for at least SOME effect on the scouts, but nope. I rather install two additional MCs to be honest. AX CZs are quite cool, but only until the interceptors wake in. I can stay around to shoot some more scouts, but eventually I have to beat the retreat.

Diving in on my with the sun in your back? Nice try, but this isn't WW2 anymore.

Alright, rich folks problems I guess.

I really want to get my hands on a Type-10, because I like the chunky "brick"-looks of it. It's a big, ugly brute and makes no attempts to hide it. More a B-52 (Big Ugly Fat Fella) than a sleek B-1, if you get my drift. However, I cannot really find a role for it in my fleet that hasn't already been covered by a different ship.

For all cargo related stuff (mostly Tritium hauling and delivering commodities during "Trade" CGs) I own a Cutter and it's unlikely that I will use something less efficient instead.

I thought about using one for FC based exploration, but I have to admit that finding a parking spot even with one of my M-sized ships can be a pain in the butt on some planets. I rarely even use my Anaconda these days, not to mention the Beluga Liner that sees zero action anymore for exploration. Tough situation to get a Type-10 in there then.

For Laser Mining I usually use my other Cutter, but at least I could see using a Type-10 as an alternative plattform here. Mostly some relaxing Tritium mining while out exploring or Platinum mining in the bubble with an FC to store the ore. Therefor max cargo capacity isn't real an essential requirement. I mine for as long as I like to and then store whatever I got in my FC

For PvE Combat I use the Corvette and I don't really need some afk turret boat. Are there any "fun" builds and uses for a Type-10 in a High CZ?

For AX combat I own a dedicated Krait Mk II, but I haven't done any bug hunting for over a year. I'm not sure if I could turn a Type-10 into some lazy, face tanking bug smasher that just bursts interceptors down with superior firepower instead of some fancy FA/off dancing.

Those are my current thoughts, so feel free to show me the error of my ways and help me finding a home for a lonely Type-10. Maybe there are also uses I haven't considered yet. Salvage, Search&Rescue, Station evacuations?
o7 cmdr,
i built a Type 10 defender... it is good for ...
a) thargoid hunter
b) miner , fleet miner defender with ships
c) salvageing
d) anything you choose to customize it

use it less for offense and more for defense..

Mine is module storage. I considered loading it up with a variety of weapons including plasma slug rails in the small slots and using it to train up npc crew. I would fly the condor and let the AI fly the brick. I used this method to good effect with a gunship back in the day.

Before the NPC from the team were dying, now enough to pump one to the Elite and he will always have you.

There’s a “too many mouths to feed” problem with the poor Class 7 power distributor. The same PD that only powers 4 hardpoints in a Krait Phantom has to deal with 9 guns on the type 10.

That pigeonholes you into efficient and/or low draw weapons in most of the larger hardpoints.

Not really. It only happens if the target is exactly at the front. The T10 is very slow to turn and the scouts circle around it, and only half of the weapon fires at a time.

If you use your head even a little bit it's totally manageable. Just don't put an OC beam laser in every slot like a fool.

Mining. 3 medium mining lasers, an abrasion blaster and a displacement missile launcher for a few byproducts, still 4 large guns for self and cargo defense. 7A universal limpet controller gives you 8 collectors. Separate 3A collector. Still room for the size 6 shield, size 5 FSD booster, size 4 refinery and fuel scoop. DSS in the size 1 slot for finding those hotspots. Rest cargo, which gives you close to 300t. Yes, a Cutter or T9 can have 512t or more, but at least I do not have the patience to fill that in one session. ~300t is a sweet spot.
Its awful as a miner. I used one as a miner for a while, but its slow, its not very maneuverable around rocks and even worse you keep hitting your own limpets, you can go much faster in a cutter and not hit your limpets. I hated laser mining in a type 10, cant say I love it now in a cutter but its a whole lot less tedious.

Not really on topic.
I made a suggestion a long time ago (and later saw similar ones) why you can't release the SLF for mining. It didn't seem that hard to me.
I'm on fighters slashing asteroids, planting missiles in crevasses. And drones with T10 haul ore to T10.
