Great! Then memorize the lesson contained within, execute them, and I promise that your next encounter will go much better.

No his ship is so engineered that no matter what was attempted he would win.

Hope the OP gives some insight into how many get away without combat logging, on the first interdiction shield were gone in seconds, then systems down in more seconds then boom. So none of the tactics would have even had a chance. Second time was my bad for even continuing on my course through the system and even then sheilds were gone in a blink and system shut down before boom.

All I'm learning is don't play open as there are griefers who get kicks spoiling everyone's day.

Hopefully the changes to crime and punishment will make this type of moronic "gameplay" less common.

It sounds like you're dead-set on remaining helpless and unskilled, and so you always will be. Good day to you.

I'm neither.

No matter what I did I was going to lose in a Beluga, so by your logic I shouldn't bother with it and should attain some super trader with massive shields, just because this moron thinks it's fun to hunt down anything looking remotely weak and avoiding anything close to a skilled fight.

Funny how the OP sees his crusade as being one against people gaming the game, when that is, in effect, what he is doing.

Dude, your shields were paper thin. I can only assume you fit the smallest shield that the game would allow, which is why my rail guns chewed through them in seconds. You lost the interdiction which gives you a longer FSD cooldown. You flew in a straight line and then tried to low wake which means I was able to just easily pull you from 'cruise again. The second time, you submitted which is fine, but again, you flew in a straight line. If you had high waked on the first interdiction at the very least, you'd have probably survived.

The engineering on my rail guns did not increase the damage of them at all. They're both long range which means they're effective at longer distance, but damage output did not go up. The rest of the engineering is on tanking my hull so that my dropship can take abuse. That won't stop you from being able to effectively survive a gank if you just took the right steps and gave yourself some decent shields. This isn't about being able to murder a hull-tanked dropship in a Beluga, it's about buying yourself time to successfully evade the attack, hence why I am grilling your paper thin shields.

So out of interest how many people generally manage to get away using those tactics? 1 in 10, more? less?

I've never been killed by another player after years of playing this game in open. That isn't because no one has tried, it's because I take responsibility for my own survival. You can get away pretty easily if you respect the situation before your in it.

I do it, because I am sick of all the Harmless Big Threes around the Bubble, raking in millions from effortless get-rich-quick schemes and not bothering to learn any of the game mechanics in the process. Then when they inevitably meet their doom in some form, they complain and refuse to do any of the basic things to survive (i.e. have decent shields, submit, high-wake). Surviving a gank is not even that difficult.

Consider it a form of protest against such schemes.

I absolutely would have without hesitation. In fact, a fully kitted Type 10 is juicy. But considering you willingly flew a Beluga Liner with paper-thin shields in a credits-per-hour hot zone, I suspect the Type 10 would have met the same fate. It ain't my fault that your Beluga was badly outfit.

Game mechanics cover a lot of ground. (Or space)
My game mechanic is to fly the ship. Deliver cargo. Deliver data. Deliver medicals. Fly cargo again. Deliver medics again. Explore occasionally. Roll, jump, tumble in my SRV.

I kill lots of NPCs. Until I get sick of that and just boost.

Yeah ........ all game mechanics. Lots of game mechanics in EDH. :D

Gameplay is not neccessarily "Moronic"

See above. There are many ways to play your own style. Why should the OP get skilled or less helpless. If he likes to drive a bus, then should get his tokens.

If you want to drive a tank with big guns you should get your tokens as well.

If he plays in Solo he is going to lose his ship pretty quick. If he plays in Open he is going to lose his ship a bit quicker.

There are heaps of players (Moi) who like to play for ... MOI ... not others idea of how to play.

If I lose it I don't whine about gankers or such. I get a kick out of reading the forums. Lately I have spent more time reading than playing! :D

Standard 6E shields fitted, only been flying the Beluga a few days so was grinding to upgrade but hey your choice to take 5mil out of my account for fun, twice for no reason, just made it a bit harder.

See I'm not one of the gamers gaming the system, I do my grind to earn my credits, your indiscriminate slaughter of anyone you deem too unskilled or too poor to be able to upgrade isn't hurting those who you say you despise.

Enjoy your game, Ill simply try to enjoy mine and play it the way it was intended.

If you can afford to rebuy twice from being shot at, you could've afforded to fit some decent shields to your Beluga.

Sure, but only in a station that has stock and basically to evade your rail guns Id need a 6A at 15mil and didnt have a spare 15mil lying around, hence the grind. A 6B at 5.3mil isnt much of an improvement from the 6E fitted

That 15 mil could have saved you 10 mil of rebuys...
10 mil of rebuys took me back to 2 mil in the bank.

to create a Beluga fit to withstand your railgun equipped Dropship is about 300mil, sorry but this grinder didnt have 300 mil in the account when I bought it.

You don;'t seem to understand that not everyone has the credits to immediately create the ultimate version of what they fly and without PvP it is possible to work through this choosing the right cargo/missions/passengers.

Anyone who wants combat PvP or otherwise is fine by me, what me off was the pointless killing of a clearly unarmed unloaded liner, what sort of a fight did you expect. Or was it you imposing your idea of a lesson on me

6E...really? 6E and wonder what happened? Yeah it blows being pulled out, but most of us when buying a new ship if we can't afford decent upgrade at purchase time will let it sit and slowly upgrade it until it is better outfitted than stock. Only stock ship I ever flew was my Freewinder. Tell us you weren't really just flying a stock ship. My (admittedly engineered) 'winder would make short work of you if that is the case (no, I don't hunt Cmdr's). If you really don't want this to happen, Solo or PG is for you.

BTW; do not...DO NOT fly that thing again without rebuy. Hop back into whatever you were flying, park that liability and get back to earning credits. I learned early that I would not fly without at least 5 rebuys in the bank. Do what you want, you will anyway.

So out of interest how many people generally manage to get away using those tactics? 1 in 10, more? less?

I've done 3 from 3 so far:
Federal Corvette with Fighter vs me (multi-role Python with a hold full of cargo)
Vulture + Federal Gunship vs me (Dolphin)
Federal Assault Ship vs me (Dolphin)

Using "those" tactics.

When I bought my Python, I did my research and figured out that it would cost me about 200 million to fully kit it out the way I wanted it. I then did missions, bounty hunted in many RES, carried cargo until I had 250 million. Then I realised I had made a mistake in my calculations and a fully kitted out Python was going to cost 250 million. But I'd already bought the thing, so, I then purchased as many of the modules I wanted as I could afford, then parked it at my favourite space station, dusted off the Cobra and the Vulture and went to work in my nice small cheap ships. When I got enough money, then I got the last modules I wanted and fitted them to my Python.

I've never tried any of these get rich quick schemes but I should some time just for the experience.

I take it you were using your Beluga to actually earn the money to upgrade it? I would call that a high risk proposition. Even in Solo, you might get set upon by some random NPC in a Vulture and that'd be the end of you.
