Hi
Last night/today I took part in a 10 hour+ super-cruise rescue, along with two other Fuel Rats, as we raced to help a stranded player, who had fallen asleep at the helm and ended up 2.18 Ly from the entry star of the system he was in. Unfortunately, due to a series of instancing problems (well, player logging into Open but the game putting him into Solo) he blew up when the nearest Rat was only a few thousand light seconds from him.
On completion of the rescue and noting that I was only 2 million light seconds from the next system I decided to super-cruise there. I already knew that it is not possible to SC to another system, or at least you can, but you won't see anything; the "witch-space" tunnel you fly through during your system/high wake jumping is when the game downloads the data from the server of the system you are about to jump into. As a Fuel Rat I have rescued many players who run out of fuel in whilst attempting to SC to the next system, believing they could actually do this. I had always informed them that if you SC to a new system you'd just be greeted with empty space, but I wanted to actually do this for myself, so that I could say I have actually done it. So I did it.
Yes, when you reach the new system, it is just empty space. i was hoping I might find a wormhole to the Andromeda Galaxy.
HIP 5263 is the system myself and the other two Fuel Rats entered to reach the stranded player. HIP 5700 is the system he had tried reaching via SC.
I reach the next system via SC. 0 km from the location marker!!
Noooes!! My beautiful, brand new, Midnight Black paintjob!!
