How is I am male / female / non-binary '2021 political subject matter'? Whats political?
I didnt think OP wanted something in-game as much as in game chat where the RW interactions take place.
Blowing me up for what I identify for and harassing me into keeping my identity to myself is oppression.
Again, I'd like to remind everyone that this isnt about politics, Orwellian Nightmares, etc. Its just asking for representation. Yall who are making it more than that probably are caught up in something they dont understand and project that lack of understanding here, in a simple request for representation, not the downfall of democracy.

It's not about conformity vs individualism. It's what I said it is, and until where that line can be drawn is universally agreed upon, things designed for broad appeal should remain politically neutral
It is already getting very political - from all directions.
There's a lot fewer replies here than there was. I'd rather sit here and do nothing and let the community moderate themselves

Has anyone in your family been murdered or imprisoned for voicing political opinions? No
Are you free to worship any God of your choosing? Yes
Are employers, businesses and the government legally bound to treat you equally? Yes
You are not oppressed, and your claims to be so, spit on the suffering of the actually oppressed.

Because you decided to make a nonsense comment about conformity vs Individualism in response to a perfectly valid statement
Half of these statements being made have nothing to do with the suggestion. I've been civil with tho who proposed different ideas and opted for some of those instead of mine. These arguments are just bad faith or projecting something beyond the thread.

I don't have political self-determination. I can't get my government to issue ID with a non-binary gender, and in order to switch from my assigned gender to the other binary gender, I'd have to convince a panel of cis people that I was 'good enough' at living full-time at that gender.
Not my family, but members of my community have been murdered for being trans, yes, and many more live in fear of this.
Weirdly enough, you're right on this one: my church has intolerant individual members, but is surprisingly supportive at the institutional level. But that's not consistently true elsewhere.
I've been physically attacked because of my presentation. That's a pretty clear indicator of being oppressed. Stop lecturing us about what 'real oppression' is.
This is why whenever I've been asked if I want to moderate a web forum, the answer has been 'lol nope'
I've been a moderator in the past, and I wouldn't want to go back to it. Even relatively laissez-faire moderation is hard work, and more proactive moderation even more so. I really appreciate the hard work moderators do - it's a really difficult balancing act.

It would be a much more relaxed place by virtue of such actions - and certainly not a mirror to RL politics, for sureIf I was a Mod it wouldnt be a public forum in any sense of the word by the end, it would just be the CMs making announcements every so often and noobs asking why its so quiet
What if I want to name my ship something else and I dont have room for "they/them?" I am perfectly fine with changing my cmdr name and (hopefully) one day sporting a pride flag about my gender. The discussion really should've ended there if there werent anymore constructive ideas to be presented.
