I wanna ask a huge favor of the game devs for the nonbinary community

Sure.. Quite poll results without any information about the poll. But I've found it based on the question to be a poll conducted by the website Unherd.

An organisation that's not a member of the market research society - and the results are from an online poll.

So they are basically worthless. The question itself is no doubt purposefully vague also.

Yet still 91% of people are not fully supportive of the statement.
Jolly good effort, but that's a hard fail. The UnHerd is a centre-right blog, founded by a conservative activist - so of course they are not a registered member of MRS, but Focaldata, who were commissioned to undertake the work, are registered a member. Your 91% is a pretty poor rewrite of the results, unless countered by 88% are not fully against it (see how that works?). Additionally, similarly themed polls/surveys undertaken by YouGov & Pew Research show remarkably similar results in current attitudes towards non-binary / gender issues - across two nations. So your initial statement remains grossly inaccurate.

See this sort of thing is what causes the issue/non-issue in the first place, it's like baa baa rainbow sheep have you any wool.

Take that to the polls :)

For me personally my biggest grievence with this thread is how many people were upset at me wanting to add "they/them" at the end of my cmdr name and went through so many lengths to try justify being upset. Its no longer any surprise to why some nonbinary people are fearful about being open about their identity. Its genuinely wild to me that the eventual length was "they're apart of a conspiracy to ruin gamers!" And list something I don't even know.

I think you are taking things the wrong way if you feel personally attacked.

You are currently non-binary, good for you. In general you will find as you go through life, that people don't care.

It's when you make the executive decision that being non-binary entitles you to special treatment, or that everyone else must take special measures for you, that you will get people's backs up.

You follow a specific doctrine, and that's fine. That doctrine is contentious and does not sit well with some. (especially feminists and tomboys) I believe you are aware of that.

The issue people take is not that you as a person have made the choice to class yourself as non-binary and have apparently made this central to your identity, with the acceptance of the validity of this choice being linked in your mind to the validity of you as a person. (this is not correct - but sadly all too common, damaging, and sadly encouraged by many communities)

By including the tags and symbols relating to non-binary gender representation the game is taking a stance on it, and through subtle means actively promoting it.

I will take umbridge with any 21st century political issue manifesting itself into the game - as do others.

That is the issue... Not you, not your identity.

I don't care if its pronouns, pride flags, swastikas, political parties, etc. It does not belong in the game, and it's a slippery slope.

Again.. No one is attacking you. Just your idea. There is a difference and it is important you realise that and don't come away from this thread feeling like some kind of oppressed victim - be strong

The radiation in space made us all sterile anyway, so there is no gender already - that's why we are called CMDRS

Nope. The ingame politics is just that - ingame. And they are not related directly to players and even less used to identify personal traits.
They are used to describe the dystopian society that forms the foundation for ED Universe

Commanders are pretty much disconnected.
PEGI7 remember?

So yea, Elite should be kept free from all this solutions that will ultimately create problems.
Solutions that create problems is practically FDevs bread and butter though. When's the last time they implemented a fix that didn't break multiple other things in the process?

Let it go.

The world changes.

Don't die on a hill when that hill has been swept away already.
Too bad forum don't have any voting system (or i don't know of any) that would show how many people want, how many dont want changes and how many don't give a damn about it. With a properly secured option to being able to vote while having account at last one month old, to prevent creating accounts just for support the cause.

All they have asked for is to be able to amend their CMDR name with non-specific tags - something they could have done with a new wipe.

Something we all could do already.

Honestly can't see how that is an issue?

My CMDRs name is not the same as it is on this forum, for reasons I won’t bore you with, it has a female name, my partner’s.

When I joined the forum, I used the CMDRs name, people did absolutely refer to me as female, I suspected others thought I was.

I had declared when I joined that I was male, I even added a signature saying, ‘Not a girl’.

People continued to mis-gender me, it wasn’t annoying but it felt I was being dishonest about my gender status, so I then changed my forum name to reflect my male being.

Tell me I’m ramming my gender down your throat because I wanted people to be aware of my gender.

Ok - You are ramming your gender down our throats because you want people to be aware of your gender :)

The definition comes from the Latin word fasces, which is a bundle of sticks. Individually, the stick is weak, but together the bundle is strong. Remind of you anything?
I think that's half correct the bundle of twigs I remember but I also remember an ax being involved and no mention of one is weak and many are strong.

It was used as a symbol of authority like, I'll hit you over the head with my big stick if you Do Not do what you are told :)

Don't come at me with the etymological fallacy. There's a difference between an etymology and a definition. You don't have to share bread with someone to be their companion, and if you're in charge of the bread, you're not automatically a lord. We've been specifically warned a couple of times now not to get bogged down with wider issues of real-world politics, so I'm not going to get into an argument about definitions of specific political movements. I was simply observing that such definitions have a necessary connection with historical sources - using them as rhetorical bludgeons is a widespread political vice that helps no-one.

So the guy you're replying to doesn't get to define it, and neither do I, nor history. I suppose it's up to you then.

I remember your signature. It baffled me a bit, but I assumed your avatar picture was the reason for confusion...

(I recognize forum members by those pictures first, names later, if at all, so I rarely recognize those without avatars and it confuses the hell out of me when people change them 😆 )

The avatar is some street art I saw in Florence, funnily enough. To this day I have no idea what gender (if any) it is supposed to be. I got it tattooed on my arm.

I did go by avatars but some people change theirs so often, or all have a protest one at some point that I started making notes of the names.

yup, and here is a fine example of 2 fasces, with Joe Biden sat between them as Obama gives a speech.
