I want a PP warfront

It is perhaps interesting that the only PvP exclusive content has no effect on the mode shared galaxy.
I'll be honest, I don't think that's interesting, I think that's kind of boring and having some big CQC tournaments with some galnet articles and some details on the combatants and their factions would be genuinely interesting and wouldn't exclude anyone. I really think it's a case of folks not wanting others to do things they are not interested in

You mean like people who want to gate existing content or additions to existing content behind Open and PvP interactions? 😏 Solo and group PvE players like to contribute too!

Powerplay sort of already has this kind of player-driven conflict narrative, in the ways the player groups coordinating each power’s community assets conduct and direct their campaigns, but I feel it’s better left ‘in the shadows’ as it were without high-profile narratives as I feel that better fits the theme (or form of the theme, depending on your opinion of the current implementation of PP...) of Powerplay.

I don’t Powerplay, at all, so I’m generally content to let those more invested in that playstyle hash out the details, especially that rubbery nuclear fella who has done excellent and eloquent arguments for improvement to PP which incorporate both PvP and PvE gameplay loops. I agree that Powerplayers are definitely in need of a jolly good hug from the devs, but I disagree that it should start from any sort of Open-only angle. Make it a more involving gameplay loop in general rather than a hardcore minority burdened with an abundance of aimless module shoppers (that may be a gross exaggeration 🤷‍♂️), and the Open shadow-war narrative will naturally follow from that in this goomba’s opinion. Just don’t try to make Elite more, errr, Elitist?

OP specifically mentioned OPEN.

see below
And in my statement you quoted I said "people can PvP in private as well".. am I wrong? Can they not? I guess maybe my opinion differs slightly from the OP's if that's okay? I mean you're just quoting my addition to their suggesiton as if it has some bearing on something and I'm not sure what that would be.

No, you are not wrong, people can indeed PvP in PG, but that is not related to OP's proposal regarding content added for Open PP
I was making the point that PvP can be an activity engaged in Open and Private as it was relevant to the discussion WE were having wrt network instancing. Hope that clears up the confusion.

cut a giant chasm between empire and federation/alliance space and introduce choke-points, special zones that require you to enter into special instances (hosted on new servers internationally, not p2p,) to access 'warfront' content. Any player disinterested in the front-line can simply go around it.

Most gamers would enjoy it. Most gamers do NOT enjoy looking at the same few loading screens for hours on end in this thing you call 'exploration'. But you can continue to do that if you want to. I personally recommend you go to the center of the galaxy and experience the black hole there.

I tried to not come back to this thread, but, I failed the Willpower check.

This is a formal notice that I refuse to be counted as on your Bandwagon. Your, Most, is now one person weaker, and I will thank you to not use my credentials as a gamer without permission.

Also, this would require way more funding than they are going to spend now, for a niche.

Basically this ^^

People seem to forget they are playing an online game without paying subscription or being forced to pay for micro-transactions.
So FD have to cut their costs to bare minimum to be able to keep the infrastructure online for all these years.

uhm, I think that's bull. video games, especially online multiplayer, are probably one of the most lucrative industries going forward. we're in an 'everything bubble', there is literally almost nothing to invest in right now but gold. ..and you're going to tell me a major game studio can't find the funding to take a well-proven asset to the next level. They could probably go to tencent and get a fat loan and a bunch of cheap data laborers.

I think they don't do it because there is a general conspiracy to keep games sucky. could have taken a handout under the table to simply not bother developing the game. excessive gaming ruining lives.

of course, me, personally... I am married, semi-retired, wrote an important book, teach revolutionary curriculum at a local university, have a nice pile of gold, and am a handsome body-builder. SO I think I can give myself a life vacation while I wait for this great reset to start overturning things.

but no. I play this so excessively right now, I must be a loser. and we have lost entire generations of talent because of games.

I hate the new world order elite so darn much.

This thread seems to have gotten away from itself, but the idea of a "Power Play warfront" sounds pretty neat.

Imagine a version of Frontline Solutions dropping you into PvP instances (filling open spaces with bots) either on foot or in space Conflict Zones (regardless of what game mode you start from), and those having significant impact on Power Play standings. Heck, lump CQC into it while we're at it and have Megaship Conflict Zones where you fly a SLF that launches from an allied megaship. Make Power Play bonuses and rewards more significant and then you'll have a dedicated system for PvP using mostly-existing assets / systems.
