I want my money back

I bought finished product recently, not beta or alpha but it seems the game is still very unfinished and frustrated and I would like my money back, hope it is possible somehow.

If you want your money back go to the actual store site and request it. FD has said refunds are handled on a case by case basis.

Coming to the forum and posting this come across as a need for attention not resolution.

Lots of forum posts like that certainly help people doing their own pre-purchase research on the game. You just want more people to get suckered in, that's all.
But its the truth... What can WE do about it?! Only FDEV can give him his money back. So this is nothing but a whinge really. Or do you run around your neighborhood shouting you want your money back when you bought a damaged pair of jeans, or do you go back to the store and talk to those that can actually give you your money back?

He could have posted about what he thinks about the game here, and asked for a refund from FD in private.

Well, it actually works pretty well to help you get your money back from shady merchants. Some of my relatives actually forced a merchant to take back a defective pair of shoes by staying next to their stand and telling coming people that they got some defective stuff here :) So you guys are extremely short-sighted here.

No!

there are sites that rated this 90%+ and loyal fanboys rating it 10/10

so the game is clearly finished, bugfree, feature complete and 100% done and probably has TOO MUCH content according to these honest reviews. So onto waiting for Elite Dangerous 2, which sadly can´t possibly get any better than what we currently have, the perfect game.

(of course no money back guarantee, perfect games never offer refunds for flawless perfection)

So snarky baiting aside, this really baffles me. The game is getting fantastic ratings by reviewers, yes. Sure, Metcritic is seeing some 10/10s but it's also seeing 0/10s. Are you saying those 0/10s are deserved? Also, no one is saying there is too much content. The game is a perpetual WIP. The core is here and fun, so say thousands of us. Is there room for improvement? ALWAYS. But you don't buy Minecraft then demand a refund because it's "still very unfinished and frustrated and I would like my money back".

Name me a single game released in the last five years that is bugfree or has not had slightly inflated reviews *cough* every CoD game since MW *cough*. They Devs have told us time after time after time after time after time after time after time after time that the game will be developed constantly over at a minimum the next 10 years. This is David Braben's baby. He's not going to let it die without one heck of a fight.

Now name me a single game with a budget over a milion quid that gives a money back guarantee if, in your own tiny opinion, is somehow lacking. Don't worry, I'll wait. Consumer entitlement these days is getting ridiculous. When you buy something, the expectation is that you want that thing. If you aren't sure, you do research. There are dozens of Elite: Dangerous streamers, hundreds of videos, about a dozen release reviews, the subreddit, the Forums, the Facebook Community, the other player communities, etc. etc. etc.. If you failed to do your research before purchasing this product, that's on you.

Games are art. You don't buy a painting and complain about the colors. You don't watch a movie and demand a refund because you didn't like the ending, or felt it didn't have enough story, or action, or that it somehow wasn't complete because they had to cut your favorite part from the book. You bought the game. You played it. If you feel it isn't complete, come back in a few months to a few years, see if it's where you'd like to to be, see if it's a bit more "complete". I've done this with other games (Minecraft and Eve to name a few) and I have no doubt I'll do it with again. Please, take a step back and realize how you look when you take this black and white, the game is either 100% good or 100% bad stance. It has it's triumphs and yes, it has its shortcomings. But that's everything in life. The difference is rather than needing to wait for a sequel like you seen to suggest, we need only wait for a patch, or, for the larger, game-changing stuff, an expansion. I'm okay with that. If you aren't, honestly, without malice, I'd tell you that perhaps, Elite: Dangerous isn't what you are looking for. And that's okay too.

There may have been cause to ask for a refund before launch, but now? Sorry the reviews are out and most of them told you that the game was unfinished.

It doesn't help at all, as OP didn't go into any details on why they want a refund, what they don't like, etc. Knowing that some random person didn't like a particular game is not very useful for pre-purchase research without an explanation. Sometime during gamma I've seen one of those "I want refund" posts citing "docking is too hard" as a reason fro crying out loud.

Im not going to ask for a refund but the game is extremely boring. Its as much fun and seems exactly the same as frontier elite on the amiga with better graphics--was a good game but here in 2014-15 if you want to be honest is not that much fun and this has about as much depth. I think the problem is the game is very much finished and very similar in depth to the original. A big lifless galaxy to do the same thing over and over again to buy a better ship to do the same things.

You can use your imagination though i hear, thats a good plan if you live in 1985 on a commodore, but really you can use your imagination staring at a wall too.

Game might be good if they add a ton more stuff to do, or some kind of ability for a player to own a factory or mine or build stations. If they don't then there's no point in playing this game for long.

Well i still have hope for star citizen, and by the time this would be worth playing that will probably be done. Neat idea though Elite, just remember don't make it too much like the original which was limited by technology at the time.
