I personally never want to use the moon buggies.

I just want to do like the original trailers advertised - spaceship dog-fighting ONLY.

Now "playing my way" is being penalized.

Please let me choose in a menu to be able to get upgrades without using a moon buggy.

I only did Powerplay when combat was enabled to get points, why can't it be done here as well?

Not sure whether you're talking about wanting to get materials only through dogfighting in the post, but as far as the title goes, you can get materials in space .. mining.

I personally never want to use the moon buggies.

You can mine asteroids for many types of planetary materials, and get most of the rare mats like polonium from missions. This is still much slower than using the SRV and there are a few mats that may not be available from asteroid mining or missions, but generally it is possible to get most of the mats you need without using the SRV. It will, however, be slower and involve more effort. If you are fine with this, then I'd say go ahead.

If, on the other hand, you just want upgrades for doing "whatever you like" and think that you shouldn't have to do any activities that you personally find boring or frustrating, then I would suggest that you find the Elite executable file and delete it from your harddrive because that will be less frustrating for you in the long run.

In particular though I do not want to use the moon buggies. Don't want to do mining either.

So if I had to travel far to X and destroy X number to get X materials as payment etc that would be perfect - using missions.

If they could make it so in a hazrez I could pirate NPCs for the stuff needed that would be great, too.

You might be right. Moon buggy simulator isn't for me, I admit it.

I don't think that't ever going to happen. There are some materials you simply can't get from destroyed ships. And it's good! The game let's you play your own way, it doesn't mean it should allow you to get all of the stuff just by doing one thing all over.

I want to be able to achieve all engineer upgrades ONLY by spaceship dog-fighting.

Then like I said, I would suggest the following steps to improve your Elite experience.

Right-click the start menu icon.
Click Search.
Type Elite.
Right-click Elite Dangerous Launcher.
Click Open File Location.
Click on Uninstall Elite Dangerous Launcher.
Follow the prompts to remove Elite from your system.

If you think that you should be able to gain access to everything in the game simply by blowing other ships up, then Elite is simply not the game for you. You should probably uninstall the game now before you become too disappointed with that issue.

I already answered you, Devari.

And I was kind enough to provide step-by-step instructions to solve your problem. Elite is clearly not a game you are interested in playing if you feel that you should be able to achieve everything simply by blowing up other ships. It is not that kind of game. Maybe consider Star Citizen if it ever gets past the "alpha demo" stage.

Thanks for a third time for exactly the same point.

I can make it a fourth time if that is necessary for the concept to sink in. You went from asking how to avoid using the moon buggy in your first post, to rejecting the option of mining or running missions, to the idea that everything should be achievable by blowing up ships and doing NOTHING ELSE in the entire game. What exactly do you expect for a response? You are basically saying you don't want to play the game, except for one specific aspect relating to combat, and I am telling you that yes, it appears that you don't really want to play the game.

Please stay reasonable and friendly Commanders. Telling someone to uninstall their game is not a very helpful advise. Just a gentle reminder. Thanks.

I suppose instead of making it a fifth time, my question is what you expect us to help you with on the forums knowing that what you want is not possible. Are you asking for help, or for the most efficient way to get the mats you need? Because that would be a useful question that we can help with. What we cannot do is change the nature of the game. FD clearly made both the mats and the blueprints as easy as they possibly could in 2.1.05. They are literally throwing mats and upgrades at players now with very little effort. Not only that, but we have plenty of guides and walkthroughs and lists (including one about MEF in my sig) that will show you how to do these tasks as efficiently as possible. If you want help, there is plenty of it on these forums. If you just want to complain about the game not being what you want it to be, there is really nothing we can do about that.

As per my first post:

I only did Powerplay when combat was enabled to get points, why can't it be done here as well?

Also:
I would prefer not to do other activities but could stand doing them as long as they do not involve the moon buggy.

From memory people campaigned to be able to do Powerplay doing only combat so I am doing the same here.

What I don't understand is WHO are you asking this of? We are not FD, even the moderators here are volunteers and have no official position. We can't change this, any changes that the Elite playerbase managed to achieve were accomplished with 2.1.05. That is the system we have. FD is focused on 2.2 now so Engineers is what they have given us, no more and no less. If you are thinking FD is going to take your post and do anything about it, that's not going to happen. Engineers went from a very long, difficult grind when 2.1 launched to a very easy, quick process with 2.1.05. So easy in fact that many players now consider the upgrade "process" a joke where you can get a +50% FSD upgrade in a few hours. I mean they are literally making it so easy to do that the only thing that FD has not done is send a dev over to your house to play the game for you.

Sounds like CQC is what you are looking for the more you improve your combat the better fighter options you get.

The main game requires other efforts than combat if you want the engineer upgrades.

That is how it is.

You are probably right but isn't this how getting Powerplay points by combat started - by people asking on the forums?
