I’d like more commanders in the Open

You: "This game suxorz!"
Other people:"Nu-uh."
You:"Oh yeah, what do you do then?"
Other people:"[x] and [y] and [z]"
You:"Well, yeah, you are happy so your opnion doesn't count!"

This has to be among the weakest forum PvP I've seen in a while. :ROFLMAO:

You can break it down like this if it makes you feel better. Must be pretty bored with Elite if youre on here. If I loved the game so much I'd actually be playing it.

really? Where did I say that?
But if you want to go there, I do enjoy mining, bgs work and the various missions, PvE combat to include anti xeno, pvp combat and powerplay. Not the biggest fan of exploration, or at least long term exploration, but I’d love to see more impactful results come from the efforts of explorers.
So anyway, back to me being a who only wants in improvements in the things I enjoy and not for the entire game right?
Again, I did not say that. And that wasn't meant as an offense to you, but rather something we all have in common.

Remember I did say that doesn't mean other player sections don't count. Just that we're not concerned with them. Lets say Fleet Carriers' only use would have been exploration. Would that make you happy? I guess not. You might be glad for explorers, but you'd be more concerned why Fleet Carriers didn't cater to your playing style. Same for me if their only use was combat.

Again, no offense intended. Just the simple obvious statement we are most concerned with the things that interest us.

But you dont need to flyarojnd and do the same thing over an over. You just bend over and accept it because you dont think your opinion matter. Must have played Elite too long. Made you feel.pointles and alone.
You don't need to murder people either. You don't need to trade, you don't need to mine, you don't need to explore. You do what you want within the choices possible. That's how life works overall, and it applies to video games as well. Particularly sandbox games. If this is upsetting, a good idea would be to try another game that isn't so upsetting to the point that conversations on the matter devolve to namecalling and become devoid of substance.

Are we done, or would you like to have an actual conversation?

Yes. All 5k of them. .success!!
You seem to think that your opinion about the game is the only valid opinion to have. And then you proceed to talk down to and ridicule anyone who has the temerity to disagree with you.

You do realize that is a really crappy way to have a discussion right?

Oh, so if someone doesn't like the same things in the game that you do, they are playing it wrong?

Never mind, quarantine will be over sooner or later, and you will be free.
But do keep on entertaining me, I so enjoy others sharing their points of view, even if I'm not entirely sure what that may be ;)

Hahahaha, you must feel so satisfied in the implication you made... don't they say 'it takes one to know one'?

No, apparently we just have nothing better to do than take meaningless item x and bring it to NPC y for credits. Then we take those credits and buy a bigger ship. Then we go get materials and deck that ship out. Then... uh. We...... do it again?

I'm calling it. Mr. Dantes isn't here for a conversation. So where were we? Is this issue still not resolved then?

If that's the case, then anyone thinking Open needs more people would do very well to create the kind of content that attracts more consumers. This is content creation 101. If the content is unappealing to people, then people will not partake. This has been the case since the dawn of humanity and will likely remain the case until its sunset.

If there are any questions about this, I'll happily answer them. If there's more venting then I'm not interested because it's all become circular now.

So, to summarize. All 5 of you are very content with the state of the game. Having a dwindling player base, power creep due to Fdev being unable to generate interesting content because of constraints in their design philosophy and a hyper focus on solo play.

That's great. Then why do any of you care if the game were to implement player based content? None of it would affect you or your solo mode. You can change as many BGS in systems your heart desires and make a huge pointless bank account!

Why are you concerned with end game content at all? Why did you even poke in here. Do you have a recommendation for end game content? Or is just saying I like few player I met, I like doing nothing in my totally sweet ship... was that the whole point?

You're not proving me wrong or hurting my point at all. Now what are valid end game suggestions? What keeps people in open. How do you maintain this dwindling player base?

What are your thoughts on a wisecracking gentleman pirate with a penchant for gentlemen's duels to shields down and a stash of brandy to leave behind as consolation prizes for the vanquished?
I fly shieldless, so that wouldn't work for me. 🤷

Again I'm going to mention Distant Worlds.

A couple of excellent CMDRs organising an epic event with the few tools Frontier provided.

Or Hutton Truckers. Hell, even SDC.

Well let’s be frank it doesn’t take 100 hours to see the problems and then decide if you’re willing to hang out and see if it gets better or not
No it doesn't. But at the same time not every game needs to be for everyone. Elite is a very niche kind of game that requires a very particular kind of player. It's not like CoD or some other big budget Triple A franchise that anyone can pick up and play. There is any one of a dozen different things that could turn a player off about the game before they even get to the point where they realize there isn't a whole lot to do in the game.

Sooooooo.... how do you get people into open? I've provided a number of examples. Then got off track defending personal attacks and diversions. Please dont contribute to the dross.

Do you have a recommendation for end game content?

Yes, I recommend there to be none whatsoever. If whatever 'end game' activity is fun, it should be accessible as soon as possible. People can explore, smuggle, mine, trade, fight and so forth right from the start. You can keep improving your ship, buy different ships, do maybe harder versions of each activity; all activites are nevertheless available in some form from the start. If there should be a new activity (with New Era for example), it should likewise be available to as many players as soon as possible.

End-game content is a game design concept that should be buried with all the first gen MMOs.
