I’d like more commanders in the Open

That's either a strawman, you can't read or you have a comprehension deficit.
Where did he, Morghan or me say they are a 'problem'? If they are a problem at all, than to those who are seriously interested in PvP and in more players in Open as the topic suggests. You need to realize that gankers play an active role in reducing the number of players in Open. Thy are the cause not the solution. You can blame the modes for that, but that is futile as that will never change. The rest is up to you to understand the coherences.
The most relevant (to the thread title) comment for some time.

"I'd like to see more Commanders in Open"? ... This can be achieved by stopping ganking.

Ok, that's the easy bit. The hard part is working out how to stop it. Some say giving the poor bored gankers something more interesting to do might work. I don't think it will, because it will turn out that they like ganking.

I am not surprised that this is what they established (yawn). In reality it is caused by lack of imagination. There are more than enough instruments inside the game to break barriers, come up with new and entertaining stuff. Isinona created amospheric films of him living in Elite. ThreeofNine pirated with dignity and flair, in sidewinders and such. People race, explore, participate in pvp tourneys, small and big. You either have the head and the heart to create your own storyline, or you don’t. Don’t hang this on FD - they gave us enough. Ganking all day as a lifestyle is a sign of intellectual poverty, not “boredom caused by lack of content”.
No in reality it’s caused by a lack of content which I’m not going to break down a second time. Scroll to my previous posts. Considering I know the progression of going from regular player to ganker and have done so on more than one occasion.

YouTube personalities are not the standard for what consittutes a normal player. Doubly so since they can monetize that content

Why reward what is, for some, considered to be poor behaviour (even if it is permitted by the game)?
HOLY ****! ARE YOU SERIOUS!? In which one of the multiple suggestions, MADE BY GANKERS, have we even slightly suggested rewarding them for ganking? Oh my gosh Robert. Is your head just in up in the clouds or something?
Honestly, talking to you is like talking to an automated recording.

Rewarding by spending time considering and offering suggestions.

I doubt it. I suspect that more than a few commanders do pvp for that element of narrative, which the game conveniently offers. I’m a pirate, a bounty hunter, freedom fighter, maniac, power player, etc. There are larger constructs, within them we find our meanining for pvp interactions. CQC is pure alcohol. No narrative, Call of Duty in space. While there are some, who appreciate it around here, the majority, I’d argue, actually likes to live in eliteverse’.

I only hope that it can go to the "I gank because I am bored" justification. Now, it can be easily suggested, "If yout are bored CQC/Arena is that way". I wouldn't expect QCQ ti replace in the wild PvP, just augment it when the action is down.

Do I need to quote the part where powerplay was designed with consensual PvP in mind again?
Designed with something in mind is not the same as designed around it - as PvP remains entirely optional in Powerplay while, at the same time, players can choose to engage in PvP with Powerplay opponents in either of the two multi-player game modes.

There’s no need for a breakdown in this particular case, I’m here since the first day of Elite, it’s just that we disagree at the foundation level. I think that I am the one creating content in Elite, you think that somebody else should do it for you. It’s okay, I understand your opinion. In any case, this won’t take us further in the discussion as far as OP is concerned,

And as noted they have identified that as a problem. Meaning that a lack of PvP focused content is a problem too, regardless of your smug implication that it’s a waste of time to even consider.

You are wrong in that timeline. PP was designed as you see it, less the PvP opt-in and crimes changes. The whole PP was intended for PvP was a later assertion when the idea of OOPP was first considered. How can you look at the design of PP and find any PvP in it at all? PP was an all inclusive PvE over lay from the beginning.

Whether lack of PvP content is enough of a problem to warrant retrospectively PvP-gating base-game content (effectively removing it from console players without premium platform access) is another matter. Noting Sandro's reiteration of the Open Mode Powerplay Bonus (first aired in March'16) as an alternative to Open only in the second Flash Topic.

Then why are you here? You bring literally nothing to the conversation.
.... because, as someone who bought the game for what it actually is, I have an interest in how proposed changes may affect the game for those who don't enjoy PvP.

Plus the fact that the thread's about getting more CMDRs into Open - which is suggestive of changes that improve the experience for those who would otherwise choose to play in one of the other two game modes.
