Idea: One use emergency jump

I don't think this is a good idea. We can already set a system on left panel and jump in a few secs.

However, if it does come to pass then the system you jump to should be RANDOM within your max jump range, fuel usage tripled and the FSD cool down on arrival should be ten times longer than normal.

You might end up somewhere worse.
This would seem to make it pointless, at least the cool down, since it would make it incredibly easy to wake scan and reach the person way before it would end?
 
Yes of course, but it requires a cooldown, it could be masslocked...

I was thinking in something like a panic button but... nah, maybe it wasn't a good idea. :p

You can not get mass locked when jumping to another system. Carry weapons when you go up there. Never know when a crazy man or aliens will want to kill you. I wish this game did have aliens so exploring would be a danger.
 
I agree with the idea of an emergency jump (with the possibility of damage and/or worse situation). Rincewind (in Terry Pratchetts' Discworld books) had a simple attitude about running away. It was running AWAY from something that was important, not the running TO something. Admittedly you might be running into more trouble, but if you let that possibility stop you from running away you wouldn't be around for long.
 
If you are worried about it affecting piracy / being used by Traders then:

"The emergency jump requires that as little mass as possible jumps, as such it will auto jettison all cargo to hasten departure."

You have to have a penalty for using it or everyone and their dog will use this every single time.
