Ideas for Squadron Battles with Fleet Carriers

Is he an official spokesperson for FD now, or making best guesses like everyone else?

Well, they call me General Smartypants for a reason... as he posted a video like 1 minute after the official release of the info I would guess he got extra special advance info. Or he is just very, very quick. Or a time traveller.
 
Head, meet desk. OP your post is eye watering, so I can only assume you aren't aware that Elite uses a P2P networking model. P2P is very, very bad for anything massively multiplayer. It is unpredictable both in terms of speed and reliability, and lacks any centralized authority.

An aside- if it's so terrible, why keep using it? Its 2019, the game has been out for years and years at this point
 
To be fair, carriers don’t fight carriers today either. They stay hundreds or even thousands of miles apart and let their aircraft do the work.
 
How does squadron combat work with fleet carriers? I read that there can't be 2 fleet carriers in the same instance. That's disappointing, because it means there can't be epic FC vs FC battles.

If only 1 fleet carrier is allowed per instance, how does a squadron attack an other FC?

They Don’t.

If fleet carriers are indestructible then there's no big end-game money sink. So once you've fully upgraded your FC, you'd continue to accumulate credits which eventually becomes pointless. Some people who worked hard to buy a FC can get upset if its destroyed. However, destructible ships are beneficial to the longevity of an online game. In Eve Online the biggest capital ships are destructible. Capital ships are very expensive, but Eve Online solves this obstacle by permitting player guilds (corporations) to share resources. So a new player could receive an expensive ship from a guild to participate in guild activities, battles etc. This ensures a continuous cycle of ship production and destruction which keeps the game economy alive. A compromise is possible. If the FC can be severely damaged by a hostile squadron, the FC owner would keep the ship and it adds a significant money sink in the end-game phase.

Is this EVE? No? Good. Much like Las Vegas, what happens in EVE stays in EVE.

It’s no one’s fault Elite has better graphics, a bigger play area, better controls and only 1/100th of the grind your precious EVE has. Perhaps you should go over to the EVE forums and complain how more like Elite they should make EVE and see where that gets you.

I respectfully disagree with you Eve online is the best MMO ever made. The only thing about eve is that it becomes a second life.

That's the old turn Elite into Eve Online straw man. The fact is other MMOs have great features that could be used to improve Elite.

The Fleet Carrier seems to offer little for conducing epic squadron battles. Because 1. there can't be two FC in the same instance. 2. they're indestructible and unclear whether they can be damaged a lot. 3. The FC seems to have little connection with the background sim such as powerplay and territorial control.

The Fleet Carrier should be more than a personal mobile station.
