Powerplay If FD decided it could take the time to implement Open Only for Powerplay, do you think it should go to a public vote?

Again, if you want to discuss the merits of making it open only, there are other threads for that. My question was a "what if" in relation to them saying they are willing to do it.

I thought that I covered the "what if" versus Frontier deciding long ago where they are going with this issue. Maybe I'm missing your point. It happens.

Because of the aforementioned issues regarding multi-account holders having more 'say' than those of us single account holders, I'm not too sure about the validity such a poll would have.

Its a valid concern, but i would guess there are roughly proportional amounts of people on both sides who hold multiple accounts. I only have a single account myself.

wow - only one "power what?" response... and no-one has said "I don't do power play but...." ! amazing. Also no threats of lawsuits cos all modes equal, lifetime pass, blah.... must be a first for a power play thread.

to the original post - yes, I'd go with a vote.. or in fact ANY improvements, changes, or anything done for power play. its long, long overdue.

Instead of a vote they should just do a month long trial of PP open only and see how it goes... they can get some real data and facts then, rather than biased opinions and scaremongering.

Edit: Not a beta, because this would not necessarily provide an accurate breakdown of usage.

No to voting
&
No to exclusive content for certain players.

You know where CQC is, PVP there.

You know where Private Group is, PvE there...

A trial could be good, but not sure a month is enough. The downside is, if they did a vote, then there would be those who say it worked, those who say it didn't work, and no matter what FD did after that, there would be lots of salt from those who didn't get what they wanted.

I think you can easily imagine what the reaction from the OO proponents would be should FD decide to do a test and then in their opinion the result is not good and they make it cross mode again.

I find this idea to be ill conceived and not very well thought out. It is punitive in nature and shortsighted. It benefits only a small minority of PowerPlayers and punishes a large group.

It is in fact, a power play.

I will undermine it to the best of my ability. In solo.

I think a singular vote is a mistake. I wasn't around when people made the mistake with transfer times; but now I suffer through it with little hope of it ever being corrected.

If something that can be switched on/off, let us fight over it in game ever couple of months. Pick a system. One faction for the change. One against. Put them at war. Whoever ends with the most influence wins.

Don't like the results? Go cause a new war.

You can argue it wouldn't make sense from a story line perspective - but neither would oopp. Have a system called "meta" and let us fight over stuff that change the game. Maybe you need to be triple elite to access it.

That doesn't go far enough. I propose we make a Battle Royale in real life. We can host it in Milton Keynes (nobody will care if that gets destroyed in the process). Last man standing gets to decide the fate of PP!

But if Fdev have the data rather than opinions then peoples reaction is moot.

That segment of the community will be against the idea no matter what.. Fdev will have to upset somebody now as they opened the can of worms. It would probably be better to upset the group that Powerplay was never intended to be for in the first place, but that's obviously my biased opinion on the subject.

Voting is so old hat, first FDev removes your ability cast a vote, followed shortly by a winning vote being totally ignored - strange world we live in ATM.

Would you support the idea of it going to a public vote and be accepting of the outcome, regardless of which way it goes? Or would you prefer FD make the call, and be accepting of the outcome, regardless of which way it goes?

So, this thread is not about whether you support open only or not. That discussion has plenty of other threads to happen in.

Its about whether you think, should FD say they can and are willing to do it, whether you trust the community to make the right decision (from your perspective) or you trust FD more.

Or maybe you don't think either would make the "right" decision, in which case, you're boned either way :D
First of all, I think FD should make the decision and not the community. The community is too split on it and if there's a vote, it'll be more heated discussions and frustration than needed. If they gonna do it, just do it. Pull the bandaid off fast.

Secondly, in a way FD is making a decision every day by not implementing it or delaying it. If they decide to not make PP open-only, they don't have to do anything different than what they're doing right now. Just letting it be.

Lastly, I would be okay with whatever decision they make. If they keep it the way it is, I think it would be more beneficial if they improved PP overall, and if they take it to open-only, there are some things they need to change anyway, so essentially, I think it's more important they start working on modifying and improving PP first, and they don't need a public vote to do that part.

A most cromulent opinion.

You know FD, they won't actually release that data though, apart from vague statements, so people will say they were right all along anyway and FD are wrong.

But, i don't see that as an argument against it really, just pointing it out.
