If I wanted a 'radio-tuning' game I would have rather bought an old radio.

Well, I've given the 'radio-tuning' mini game a decent go and it gets the thumbs up from me.

The only thing it doesn't offer over the old ADS is one click population of the system schematic map and that was always derided as shallow and inane. Or are peoples memories that short?

But in all other ways it's better. It is much quicker and more efficient to scan bodies than previously, no more having to fly your ship at a planet and wait for ten to thirty seconds for the game to do something. I'll defy anyone who says its quicker to fly 500K light seconds to scan a load of planets than it is to twiddle the tuning from the location you jumped into the system at.

If anything I would like this mechanic extended to other areas of the game, for example, the pulse wave scanner in mining. The ability to tune the scanner to return signals for the resources you're looking for. Or the same with the SRV. Maybe detach USS from the FSS and have a, for want of a better term, a "radio" that you need to tune and scan to find distress signals, pirate comms, and the police channel.

Well my exploration days have just come to a very abrupt end... my PC appears to have frozen during a scan, and I came back to find my ship was destroyed due to heat damage.

I've submitted a ticket of course, but I don't think they'll be able to do much - a month of data has been lost.

One of the fatal flaws of exploring I guess. Credits would have been nice, but all that scan data... it's very painful to know it's all gone.

It probably happened because DWE crashed the server. So they should give your data back.

Oh i agree with this. If explorers get it everybody should. It needs to be woven into every aspect of the game.

They can resurrect you as long as you stay in the rebuy screen!

…, I think what they have stopped, is people turning up to a system and cherry picking all the good parts, whether thats planets or an unusual layout that is revealed after the honk.

I think fdevs have done a great job in introducing the FSS. Maybe it needs tweaks, but the principles are sound

If you need to quickly get to a system 12000 ly away to scan it, then just keep swimming.

You shouldn't be rewarded for a 5 second honk in every system along the way.

What FDev did was:
- making exploring a single system much, much faster compared to the combination of ADS and DSS.
- making it much easier to spot high value objects (cherry picking)
- they kept the credit rewards for the simple honk

Basically they made everything easier what you think they stopped.

I'm not sure it was linked to that, although it did seem to be near the same time... we'll see. Thanks though :)

I did have the foresight to stay in the rebuy screen - but that was partially because I was so in shock followed by despair I just rage quit the game!

I DO hope they are kind enough to resurrect me... I've kinda needed this to get through a very tough time over Xmas and suchlike. </sobstory>

They specifically said they could do this in case of griefers last week, a bug surely counts as well. Open a ticket cmdr!

As well as god mode all rewards from fidgeting people want god hand resurrection after playing in open?

That's a little bit too padded wall maybe im not an explorer after all.

Is that what this game is turning into?

Open is pvp mode, play in a private group.

Good luck. I hope FDev will give back all your data and place your ship in the system that bug hit you. Losing exploration data due to a bug is bad, really bad.

It's simple. If the destruction of the ship or the loss of progress is caused by a bug in the game the developer of that game should fix that bug and the result of that bug. It has nothing to do with god mode.

A few weeks a go I crashed my ship with data of 5-7 fully mapped systems into the surface of that last moon, because I basically fell a sleep (due to playing to long). It hurt, but it was my fault. Bought my ship back and went out again.
If it had been because of something FDev is responsible for - bug, server hiccup, … - I would certainly want FDev to give me back my ship and my data.

Not for Open, that is for the fleetcomm PG. If you enter a PG where pvp isnt allowed, you will be kicked out and the victim restored. If you want to shoot people you should go to Open.

Kaltern is talking about a bug, and obviously that should be restored.

Ahh fair enough, yes absolutely for a game bug. Im not going for dw2.. but restoring victims just doesn't sound right. I guess there's no pve bit in the game so there's nothing else that can be done.
