I just hate that silly out-of-cockpit 2d minigame twiddling game that’s dressed up as better gameplay.
I like the FSS. It is cool and much better than what we had.

But the ADS module as it worked in 3.2 is a known quanitity.
Nobody is saying you cant play your way using whatever means or tools available to you in-game. You are demanding the game be changed for you, and that is something people may very well disagree with.
"I want FD to spend time on [x] because that is what I want!"
"I'd prefer they didn't."
"YOU CANT SAY THAT!"
Well, people can. And they. Welcome to discussing games.
Finally some good use for my knobs on X55! I love how it feels. It's not like we'd have some automated scanner in year 3305 all manual!

I used to think that the ADS was pretty lame but now I think of it fondly.

so if they were to bring back the ADS as an additional module (with power reqs and weight), and it had the exact same functionality as previously, how would that hurt/bother/affect the proponents of the FSS?
So it reveals all bodies in the system map, and makes them targetable in the nav panel. They'd still be undiscovered, and you'd still have to either travel to them to discover, or zoom in on them in the FSS. So instead of zooming in on blue blobs, you'd be zooming in little planet icons. So any supposed 'advantage' gained would be a minimal discover time gain. And from the sounds of it, few would do this, as the ones asking for the ADS hate the FSS gameplay, so wouldn't use it.
Seems to me like it's a more than fair trade off of a used module slot+power+weight for a potential minor speed advantage with remote object discovery.
I personally wouldn't use it, as I like the FSS gameplay. But if others are using it, so be it. Why/how would it's re-introduction affect us?

Maybe there should be a training demo session for those people who don't or can't use the FSS.
This way they can git gud and complete the system map they so badly want as quickly as me.
I'm only dangerous in combat but I am elite at using the FSS, I can scan most average system bodies in under a minute. Maybe because I have mapped the new controls sensibly.
I must also highlight the fact that I'd love to go deep space exploration, it my goal especially now the new tools are here, but alas, I'm too busy engineering my ship to get ready.
Who wants to go on a galaxy wide tour without a decent ship, with reasonable slots and equipment?
When engineering was introduced, Fdevs effectively made my hard earned A rated ship a E class compared to NPCs, so I start the slow grind to make it good again. By the time I'd finished, they moved the goal posts again....so back to the engineers for more upgrades....took me years to get ready, in fact I rage quit for a while. I'm expecting that before I'm ready to set off this time, another piece of tech will be released that I will have to grind for.
So I find it unbelievable that some people here are so mad about doing a little ffsing.
Engineering had a bigger change to gameplay and upset a lot more cmdrs but fdevs didn't change that, in fact they made it even longer and harder.
No, I vote not to go back to the ADS, I don't want any systems revealed until the FSS is used, that would be just great and make it feel like I was actually looking and exploring for things.
I have complete confidence in fdevs vision for this game, and what ever is coming in future releases.
Life is like a box of chocolates..... not everyone likes the orange ones.
This is why I'll actually be surprised if Frontier does not bring back the ADS. People are quitting the game because it was removed. Will the same number of people quit the game if it's brought back as the separate, optional, expensive, power-consuming module it once was?
Even better. So there's really no advantage to having an ADS for object discovery. There would be no change to the FSS Scanner Screen, they remain unresolved and the 'game' is identical to a virgin system. You can test this in the game in any tagged system you have not previously visited.

Well, people can. And they do. Welcome to discussing games. The very idea that it is 'not fine' for people to disagree with you on what FD should do is hilariously silly.
It does seem to be a solution with no obvious downsides.

I do think everyone who equips it should be given this as their holome:

I'm perfectly okay with people disagreeing with what I want FDev to spend their time developing.
I'm NOT okay with them telling me I can't have it because "it's not true exploration".
Welcome to POLITELY discussing games.
I'm willing to bet a whole dollar (got paypal?) that they wont. Because:
1) I am rather confident player count has been booming since 3.3, which means their overall vision is working.
2) They design stuff for the future, which is something they know more about than most others.
Ok, but what if adding it back has the potential to increase the "player boom".1) I am rather confident player count has been booming since 3.3, which means their overall vision is working.
