If someone from Fdev streams themselves unlocking all the Guardian tech. I will eat my eye patch.

One hting that I find kinda frustrating, is the constant

“that’s not the way the game is meant to be played” comment.

Whatever happened to “play your own way”? What if acquiring item X, or ship Y is EXACTLY what I want to do? The reason doesn’t matter. Why should it be a grind? Why must it be (random number generator) 5 hours of grind? Why can’t it be 5 hours of interesting gameplay?

The idea of "play your own way" was seemingly ditched with the release of 2.1. A lot of things were introduced which required player to do very specific thing to get. And it is only getting worse over time...
Like someone wants some upgrade. To get it he has to unlock very specific engineer by going into very specific place and doing very specific thing. No alternative ways, no options.

“Play your own way”. Still can’t believe that they used this as a tagline, what with the extremely limited ways in which one can interact with the lifeless galaxy.

And that was before this awful guardians business.

BTW, what is your favourite movie? Try watching it for 2.5k hours in a row and don't watch ANYTHING else. Then try telling me you still enjoy watching that movie with a straight face ;)

Dune. Love that film, watched it dozens of times. Although probably not 2.5k hours... that might be too much for even me.

I play my own way, within the framework of the game. There are always limits within any game. And if you are objective, you will note ED offers a hell of a lot of vareity and freedom compared to many games out there.

It's been a common theme for years... CQC, Powerplay, Generation Ships, Thargoid bases, Guardian Bases, Multicrew.

I'd suggest that only CQC and Multi-crew are really unwanted/not utilised content...if you think no-one has any interest in Powerplay, Generation Ships, Thargoid bases & Guardian Bases I'd suggest you're mistaken...

Ah man some parts of that film are brilliant (i say some parts cos it’s a mess of a film). Love the Harkonnen and spice guild bits. Like Lynch’s style/take on it. Shame Stink’s in it but hey ho.

It offers a bigger space, I’ll give it that.

Grind and grind again.

It's all FD have got.

I was once like you...until some highly perceptive individuals from these forums - to whom, I will be eternally grateful - explained the erroneous nature of my beliefs & when you hear this epoch-making perspicaciousness, you too will realise how profoundly idiotic you have been...

"Grind...is in the mind!"

Not only do I not care to get directly involved with Guardians and Thargoid content, I don't care that I don't care. It doesn't affect the things I do enjoy one bit. I just wish Frontier would spend more time on "universal" content (like stations and outposts, atmospheric planets, ships, etc.) instead of this highly optional content, but that's a different thread.

Well i dont see me, goin out there again and wasting additional hours for scanning and collecting. So far there is nothing worthwhile in guardian tech. Maybe a few weapons to kill Thatgoids but most of the other stuff seems not worth the hassle or is not working correctly atm.
Aside from that, i fail to see the fun in it. Aside from repeating the same thing over and over again, you also get punished for needing different items in that small SRV cargohold.

I think people did want multi-crew, but performance / instancing issues killed it. I really wish they'd made a big thing out of generation ships.

As I understand, the Guardian tech isn't really required. People were killing Thargoids with the anti-Thargoid weapons, and it can't be engineered which is a limitation.

Still, when i'm back from the bubble, i probably will kit out a Cobra with the Guardian stuff, just because. Although i'm not looking forward to unlocking all the stuff. Its going to take some effort. Still, by the time i'm in a position to do that, maybe FD will have changed something. Its happened before.

Is this a late April fools joke?

Because that video has to be a troll.

No way can that actually be required to unlock the new guardian tech.

Never more has the requirement to use third party sites been more evident.

Utter and complete fail by FDev..... Again.

Value for money != Hours Played

Maybe a few do, but I'd bet not the majority of players.

Multicrew is unfinished
Power play doesn't work properly
Generation ships have very limited interactivity
Thargoid bases have very limited interactivity
Guardian bases/ruins consist of drive and click fun

I'd say only the hard core players really bother with those niche parts of the game.

The main flesh and bones of the game remains basic and shallow, which is why there are so many people crying out for more content and deeper immersion.

No, the video is accurate. It actually makes the process look better than it is, in reality it feels worse than the video portrays, lol.
