If we are to get one more canis?

I have a different answer, instead of just one more or none, how about MORE!
If we can only get one more, I’d like to nominate the golden jackal. Currently no jackals in game, India could use some more love and a big of Europe where golden jackals have been seen.
1. Golden jackal
2. Coyote
3. Red wolf
4. Tanuki
5. Bush dog

Oh also while looking up different Canis and Canidae members, I saw that the Timber Wolf is possibly not even a Gray Wolf but a different species (Canis lycaon) or even a ssp of the Red Wolf, even though I think some translations for it in-game in other languages refer to it as the Mackenzie Gray Wolf so that's odd
Yeah, the "timber wolf" is a messed up animal in-game. I just wish it was more consistent. A simple name change is literally all it needs. Just change the Zoopedia. Behavior and needs are the same, just rename it so that it's a more consistent animal with its relatives. Please, Frontier? Pretty please with a cherry on top?
Raccoon dog or bush dog. Anything else would be boring to me (I'd accept the bat-eared fox, but I feel pretty much foxed out now).
I'm sure you meant gray fox, right?😉
Though, I'm kinda done with foxes, for now. Except for the gray fox, of course...

Ok, here's what I'd say for the Canis genus:
  1. Mexican wolf - a desert dwelling wolf and looks different than what we have in-game. The timber wolf already sorta represents it with the brownish-reddish coloring, so it should be fairly easy to implement. But having a proper Mexican wolf that brings a little more Mexican rep, plus a critically endangered species, would not be bad
  2. Red wolf - the controversial dog, I consider true red wolves a unique species and not a hybrid nor a gray wolf subspecies. They have an interesting conservation story, as they seem like they're hanging on by a thread, with breeding efforts in the South to save them. I think they'd be a nice addition and can alternatively kinda scratch the coyote itch, since they look like a buff coyote
