If you are thinking about getting an EDTracker

You sound like one of those guys who post bad reviews without even seeing, let alone buying the product.
It is idiot comments like this that prevent people from providing a service to the community for the benefit of the community with little thought to profit.

You open your post with 'It sounds like '..... what a load of dog doo.

I was extremely grateful for these guys going to the trouble of designing the device, writing the code, testing it and then building me one for peanuts.

When I received mine I took note of their advice and built it into a suitable box whereby the cable applies zero stress to the micro usb socket.

To the Edtracker team, Please do not be dissuaded from providing built units because of the negativity posted on here. You are doing a great job.
Ok, fair enough, let me rephrase it... From what I have read here it is apparent... there happy now? :)

Actually I was commenting on the fact that many have posted that they too had it break while it was in normal use and not under stress, so you see, I do know what I am commenting on, you don't.

I built my own EDTracker, it works flawlessly. If you had any inkling AT ALL of the build process or how it works you would not have posted the claptrap you did. You were trolling, got caught and you are trying to worm your way out of it. Have some dignity man.

Updated the OP with responses from EDTracker.

Can this not turn into people attacking other members of the community. This issue is now hopefully being resolved.

Just defending the EDtracker as its a really good bit of kit made by some very switched on folk, glad your situation is being resolved :)

You haven't read anywhere near enough. Brumster and the guys have been helping people and answering questions since before ED was out of alpha.

It's a proper little homebrew project that has saved a lot of us spending a fortune on overpriced trackir setups.

They have done a massive service to the community and deserve a bit better than uninformed spouting of rubbish, so just stop it please.

Glad its sorted, DeadFred is the guy who helped me out even when he was on holiday so if he was a bit short he had his reasons and it is out of character and he has done the right thing. Great bunch of guys you all have my thanks for your hard work saving me over 150 quid and enhancing my enjoyment of ED and other games .

Nobody is attacking other members of the community. Merely challenging the validity of there statements.
If you are going to post negative comments that are not backed up by first hand knowledge, be prepared to be strongly challenged.

He offered advice, and offered to replace it. If I'd been nice enough to create a whole project around a $10 piece of hardware THAT SOMEONE ELSE MADE and then very rudely get accused of "supplying poorly made junk" after I'd been nice enough to run around doing a whole lot of work that the OP was too lazy to or had no ability to perform, ESPECIALLY after the number of caveats and warnings given on the forum, and for no personal profit, I'd have responded in a much nastier fashion than the OP got and felt quite justified in doing so. It's this sort of entitled whining that STOPS people creating cool projects like this without a multi million dollar development budget and a legal team behind them. This is WHY companies that make crappy, chinese built hardware are flourishing, and DIY projects are disappearing.

I think the need to discuss this further was terminated with the excellent response from Dead Fred. Something you've made clear you wouldn't be willing to do.

*I hope they replace it with one that is higher quality than the one that broke so easily. good luck.

And thanks to all that gave rep. :)

I have only just read this thread, and i would like to add my story.

I recently bought the 9150, which i am having problems with due to not being recognised as a joystick (even though my old 6050 is working ok)
I am awaiting some new cables to try, i contacted Dead Fred, who immediately sent a replacement, and i returned mine. He tested mine to be working, and i am still having problems with the 9150.

The point of this post is to say that the team has been nothing except supportive, with offering replacements, and help. brumster has even initiated a google hangout to try work through some issues with me.
For a small team, with no official product warranties, i think they do a great service to the community, and their customers.
In fact i have told them i will keep working to get this sorted, even wait for a new product build, rather than request a refund. I feel my money is safe with them until i get something i can use, or even a newer future version.

The arduino usb connection is quite brital and care needs to be taken to make sure as little pressure is put on the joint as possible. I rarely ever take the connector out.
Then quite honestly, they should be looking at obtaining it from another supplier. If their product is faulty because they buy dodgy parts, it's still their problem to sort out.

Under the sale of goods act: Goods must be fit for the purpose for which they are sold.
This means that, if it breaks during normal use, (that includes plugging and unplugging the unit regularly), it is not fit for that purpose.

Actually the sale of goods act has provisions for that and as they mention that the connection is quite weak and others have had it for much longer (I have had mine over a year) without fault then it comes down to whether you were negligent in following your care instructions and if it is warranty. Now you say you never received care instructions (nor did I but I purchased mine at LaveCon direct) so it seems to be a question of warranty.

It's the same board no matter what supplier you get it from. It's a little hobby board with a programmable arduino.

They aren't buying dodgy parts. I bought mine from an electronics supplier, it's the same exact board.

Have a flan in the face.
