If you are thinking about getting an EDTracker

I don't know. Perhaps people feel like in the old days when you bought something It actually lasted at least a moment.
Everything was precious. Nothing was thrown away.
Broken things could be fixed.

Perhaps that is too strong a statement.
Maybe nobody knows the right way forward.

I didn't bother with 9 pages of posts... after reading the updated original post and the responses from the EDTracker folks I can say that I'm now considering buying one.

Running a business is hard. More importantly when a company has a mistake how they handle it says a lot.
The initial exchange and the faulty USB were mistakes. They stepped up, apologized and resolved the problem while doing what they could to make the customer happy.
No one is perfect. The fact that the response was public is even more impressive.

I wasn't thinking of buying an EDTracker before I read this post, now I am. Kudos for good customer service and standing behind your product.

Taking heed of the warnings that the usb joint was weak I used several inches of black electrical tape to tape the lead to my headphone lead and it's been fine for several months. I like the ED tracker so much I've just ordered a pro to replace my old one. The drift on my 1st gen EDT isn't too bad once warmed up, it's the other half laughing at me pressing the button on my head to reset the view every now and then that caused me to order a pro ;)

I've only got good things to say about ED Tracker and my interactions with the guys there.

I bought mine last December just after getting ED, a cased 9150. When I bought it I could see it was a hobby shop bunch of guys making these things, using arduino boards. I was happy to pay them to build it and ship it rather than having to ham fistedly solder it myself. It worked on delivery, in fact the only issue I've had was when I didn't keep the software updated and a call for help on these forums had the ED Tracker guys pointing me in the right direction very quickly.

Yes it's a product and yes its not perfect, but I do think they are pretty clear what you are buying, and the level of 'professionalism' is fine imho, in fact it far exceeds the level I've experienced from much larger organisations.

I made sure to tape the USB cable to relieve the stress on the connection when I attached it to my headset, it's been 100% reliable.

It's always annoying when something breaks and if the response you got wasn't an example of them at their best then as far as I know it's the only example I've heard of and they do seem to have rectified the issue.
