If you could have one more DLC from Asia?

Asia is a huge continent and it's understandable that there's still many iconic animals missing. If we were to get another Asia DLC, what part of Asia would you prefer? And which animals? If we are to count India, personally I think it's an obvious choice.

There's so many animals it could include: The Indian leopard, Asian small-clawed otter, nilgai, blackbuck, chital, langur monkey, Bengal fox, spoonbill, or the sloth bear all come to mind. And if aviaries were available by then and would include non-bird species, you could even consider the Indian giant squirrel or the flying fox! And I think most people would agree the king cobra is an obvious exhibit choice.

I'd probably just go with mainland Asia as a whole, Southeast Asia have enough animals for the time being (though I wouldn't be against more species from it, mainland Asia is just lacking more.)

1. Amur Leopard
2. Asian Small-Clawed Otter (More prevalent in Southeast Asia, but it's range does extend into southern China and a patch of India)
3. Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey
4. Markhor
5. Przewalski's Wild Horse
6. Red-Crowned Crane
7. Saiga Antelope
E. King Cobra

I'm with Aramar - I'd probably do just a general Asia Animal Pack, too, if I had a choice. Most of my top picks are spread around the continent. In fact, my choices aren't that different from Aramar's either.

Totally agree with the following;
  • Amur leopard.
  • Blackbuck.
  • Markhor.
  • Asian small-clawed otter.

I'd also do these;
  • Siamang or white-cheeked gibbon if we have brachiation, but if not, the lion-tailed macaque.
  • Red-crowned crane.
  • Japanese raccoon dog.

I would love to see this Far East animal pack (mixed China/India).
And I hope that Gibbon will come in the future anyway.

1. Amur or North Chinese leopard - obvious star of the pack 🤩

2. Pere David’s deer - amazing half aquatic deer and also extinct in the wild - very popular in zoo’s in Europe

3. Przewalski horse - endangared and majestic

4. Golden Takin - strange looking highland animal could introduce rock climbing

5. Blackbuck - iconic small yet very elegant Indian antelope

6. Stripped hyena - widely distributed desert loving hyena with the cutest pups ever

7. Lion tailed macaque - the most amazing looking of all the macaques and would be more fitting in tropical climate zoo’s than the Japanese one. More monkeys please 😁🥰

I'd make this the "Favorites - Asian Animals" animal pack:

  1. Leopard - any will do, but my preferences are the Indian or the Amur (both beautiful)
  2. Raccoon dog - I mean, not to start it up again, but the bintuwrong looked like one. I'm sure they might have that old model archived somewhere and can adapt the rig. Plus, tanooki is a cool word and they can fly (sorry, Mario reference)
  3. Prezwalski's wild horse - an icon of endangered species, the last true wild gorse
  4. Indian grey mongoose - what's not to like? They're cute, fierce. And also don't forget Rikki-Tikki Tavvi
  5. Wild pig - I mean, although annoying everywhere else, they're underrated and would be very interesting to have
  6. Lion-tailed macaque - there really aren't enough monkeys. We have more dogs than monkeys, when it should be the opposite (not that I dislike the dogs, though)
  7. Striped hyena - a nice looking hyena, a cute alternative to the spotted (laughing) hyena
  8. King cobra or reticulated python or rock python - king cobra is iconic, and would be the first cobra. The reticulated python is the longest snake. And the rock python is what Kaa is

Habitat Animals
1. Saiga Antelope
2. Przewalski's Horse
3. Amur Leopard
4. Wild Yak
5. Gibbon or Siamang
6. Takin or Tahr
7. Japanese Giant Salamander (exhibit or habitat - can be over 5 ft long)
8. Japanese Red Crowned Crane

Exhibit Animal
1. King Cobra

Aviary Animal
1. Greater Hornbill/Indian Hornbill

1: Golden Snub nosed Monkey
2: Przewalski's Horse
3: Amur Leopard
4: Gaur
5: Tanuki
6: Red-crowned crane
7: Green Peafowl
8: Earless monitor lizard
Bonus Animal due to being similar to another one in the Pack?: Indian Leopard

Damn, now I don't know how to fit a Gibbon in there because all of those Animals are too amazing to be replaced. So I'm hoping for a Primate Pack or something similar 🙃

I would go with mainland Asian too, still would include some SEA species, but maybe have something like;
  • Amur leopard: I think that's the most obvious choice, an other subspecies would be fine too.
  • Père David's deer: as said before, it's a species that was saved by zoos, so I would really like it's inclusion, or at least an other deer.
  • Takin: it's too iconic to not be included, I don't really have a preference for the subspecies, but hopefully it will be one kept in Western zoos.
  • Gibbon: we're still missing one, lar would be the most popular and obvious choice, but any of them would be nice. If there couldn't be a way to implement brachiation, I would take an macaque or an other leaf monkey too (hopefully something more common than the Proboscis monkey).
  • Small-clawed otter: an other fan favorite that would be nice to have.
  • Cabot's Tragopan: a rare but beautiful bird, it's not really commonly kept, like many other pheasant species, but it still would be on the top of my list.
  • Red crowned crane: the second bird and an crane is something we're really missing at the moment.

There are so many possibilities but I would focus on the area from the Himalayas to Japan. Not sure what to call it, maybe just Asia.

Mishmi takin
Red-crowned crane
Amur leopard
Japanese serow
Golden snub-nosed monkey
Sika deer
Przewalski’s wild horse

Exhibit species: any small-ish turtle species which would highlight the threat they face from trafficking, demand for food, medicine etc.

Realistically I’m not sure they’d include the takin and serow in the same pack. The monkey is the ‘quirky’ option. Not found in zoos outside China, Japan and Korea so a gibbon instead could also make sense. Raccoon dog just missed out (would make Japan almost complete) as did the Asian small-clawed otter.

Didn't know they aren't kept anywhere outside of Asia. Any specific Reason for it? Still hope we'll get them. They are just too cute to not be included 🙂

I think it’s also because like pandas the Chinese government control their export. LA were due to get them but it fell through due to diplomatic issues with China. They had a feng shui designed enclosure which I think housed françois langurs in the end. Also Blijdorp was supposed to get them but again, the negotiations didn’t deliver in the end.

Thanks for the Information. I wonder if there are more Animals where China regulates the Export so much 🤔
