If you could make one change to E:D

In the Frontier Careers, FD are seeking a Senior Game Designer (Technical)
  • Design and setup of scenarios/missions
They anticipated your post :)

If they made more interesting and varied space trucking missions, my boundless and intense shout of joy would rupture the earth's ionosphere and knock Jupiter out of its orbit while simultaneously causing a gamma ray burst. Aliens would detect nothing but the gravitational waves left over from the event. Even though all life on earth would cease to exist, nothing would be able to wipe the grin off of my face.

The a ability to modify ships.

For example, my DBX has a size 5 fsd. If I could modify it, I would change it to size 6, and remove the med hardpoints to make space for it.

Or

Custom crafted ships.

Similar to the other suggestion, it would allow us to be able to create ships using modules, hardpoints, size and bulk the new ship has. For example, I would create a t-8 surveyor. It be slightly larger than the t-7 with a large fsd, a size 8, capable of going long distances, with size 6 thrusters to support the weight. I would also put 5 small hardpoints, and maybe 1-2 meds on it, on it for protection and 4 UM. For the power plant, it would be size 6 to support the fsd and thruster.

Or

Core module booster

It would be an internal module that would boost a core module. For example, o could put a powerplant booster on my alliance chieftain to cover all of the power. Or a life support booster, extending the time of oxygen. Or a thruster supercharger for my imp eagle to increase its boost speed to nearly 1km/s.

Or

Module carriers

Instead of having to transport ships from engineer to engineer for experimental upgrades, I could just take my conda with a few module carriers carrying my alliance chieftain's hardpoints or core modules to an engineer for experimental upgrades.

You can get the slow down message while accelerating. Proper label would be "too late for brakes, time to spiral".

Not really, if you are heading to a station and pass by a plaint, you should just ignore the slow down message and preform a gravitational sling.

Not a few posters have mentioned mods as their if only one change wish. One wonders exactly how that could be implemented in ED. In a single player game it's a no brainer. Wanna make yourself invisible with a one shot kill gun or a one slash sword? Someone out there has made a mod that will do that. And no one cares one single bit if you use it or don't. It's your game - play it the way you want to play it.

In Multiplayer? Ehhhh... NO! 'Cuz in MP it isn't just YOUR game anymore.

There's A lot of paranoia about cheating in this community and it shows in the threads posted in the last month. Imagine the hate mods would generate if they were made legit - every tom, and harriet who doesn't have the skill to fly out of the slot would own a supership controlled by a bot with shields that couldn't be taken down, armor that couldn't be dented, weapons that could vaporize planets... Who'd police it? Who? And that example is just the tip of the ice berg.

NOPE! Mods would not work in ED.

Well maybe in SOLO - maybe?

Not really, because you would still affect the same BGS with your super modded CMDR... It would only work with an offline version which isn't happening any time soon.

Lot's of people also mentioned removal of the Engineers. That's not going to happen either. I don't really like the Engineers as well, but imagine they removed it... The 10 people who are regularly complaining about it would be happy but the thousands of players who spend ages with grinding would make the french revolution look like a parent's evening.

Well the topic wasn't really about what is realistically likely to happen, just that if you could change one thing, what would it be? In this hypothetical scenario, I'm still convinced that removing engineering would be the thing which would most improve the game in a single swipe.

I hate the grind from the bottom of my heart because I already have a demanding job and I'm not looking for a simulated second job for my spare time, but in practice engineering is a mandatory part of the game now. A-rated is the new E-rated and all that. But the grind isn't even the worst of it! The worst is the balancing nightmare associated with the magic experimentals and upsides-only modifications to components that have some reasonable trade-offs built in their unmodified form.

Don't get me wrong, there are many things I would change, but when asked to dream big and single out one thing, any thing, for me engineering comes on top every time.

Well, I would be among those who would complain and possibly uninstall if not even demand a refund if that happened. I spent a lot of time engineering 24 ships into perfect tools for specialized tasks and enjoy each and every one of them immensely when they time after time again excel in the tasks they're specialized for.

What would you change then? more engineer possibilities? no need to grind to get mats? wld be dope if we cld buy mats at least with credits

Changes specific to engineering: Cutting the exchange rates at the material traders at least in half. Trading up or across is beyond ridiculous. Definitely reduce the number of rolls to max out a mod, or even remove the RNG completely. You have the materials, you buy the maxed out upgrade, done. Material for credits is difficult to do. Some CMDRs are swimming in credits, others don't even can 1 billion their own, because of their chosen playstyle.

It's not naughty but the dev need tu put a big major concrete update.. like FPS mode or something news to attract the game, and stop making news skin over and over...

True, I just thought it would fit to the post I replied to.

Give us some actual clues to Raxxla/ Dark wheel - like something someone can work out...
wld be cool if they implemented it into a longer cg where we'd have to follow clue after clue together. till we find it by 2020 an leg space update, than we can walk around raxxla
