If you were the authors, how would you have named the game instead?

Just reading this thread makes me despair.
If it’s so g crap than why are you all still here posting

Elite: blandness
Grindfest
Boring

Why are you here?

If you dislike the game so much and think that people shouldn’t waste their money, you should go and post on Amazon or wherever the game is sold and add your one star rating.

I’m often critical of the game and some of the design decisions, but I just don’t see the point of posting Elite: Backwards. If you don’t like something, vote with your feet and don’t let the door hit your asp on the way out.

I always fancied Elite Legacy but the "legacy" suffix was starting to get a bit overused by 2012, and then of course Michael Brookes used that title for his book anyway.

In retrospect, as others have said, simply Elite would probably have been the best option.

Elite: Dangerous was always awkward, and while there's some logic in David Braben's canon explanation for the subtitle, it's led to more confusion and argument over its meaning than I think anyone expected.

ELITE: Dangerous.

Every time I try to think of something better, I cant. The rank requirement for the Elite whatever, the Thargoids' return, discovery of a suppedly dead race, it's all dangerous. One way or another.

Joke suggestion: ELITE: Suppression.

Elitpeeeeeeeen, going on a lot of forum posters.

But ELITE 4 would have been my vote, think the name is ED is awful.

This thread is very interesting to me as I remember a thread back when the kickstarter was announced, where we suggested alternative names for Elite Dangerous. The thread is somewhere buried on the forum and auto-locked, but you could find it if you wanted to (I CBA).

We used to refer to it as "Elite IV" before the kickstarter (for obvious reasons), and play.com even had it available on their website for years before we knew about the kickstarter, which we mocked mercilessly.

I even sat next to Michael Brookes at the first Lavecon and mentioned Elite IV and he quite calmly told me that Elite IV does not, nor ever has existed. He was of course meaning that while it is the 4th game in the Elite series, it's never been called "Elite IV".

(note "IV" is roman numerals and pronounced "four" and not "Eye-Vee")

They could change the naming convention once the space legs update comes in.

Basic version - Elite: Disabled Edition
Full game with all DLC edition - Elite: Your Ship Doesn't Have a Wheelie Tag Edition.

Obviously I mean no offense.
