Yeah, found one on my way back from Eta Carinae.


Thought it was a Kevin Costner at first but it came up as an earth-like

Any idea why this is? Is it a glitch? Is it a matter that land mass does not factor into it being earth-like, only average temperature and atmospheric composition? I wonder why my Water World with life and a Hawaii like chain of islands is a water world and another world with no land at all is Earth Like?

I honestly have no idea.

I was convinced that both of them were Water Worlds on first inspection but the scanner said earth-like so i wasnt complaining :D

not a glitch.. these worlds are 'Noah' earthlike planets

Great find Nutter! I hope you get credited. I went back to check on some of my previously explored systems only to find that although I can check the system screen and planet info (and have close up screen shots) there is no discovered by tag. Bit of a downer when some are earth types etc.

I think water world is the name for any planet in the habitable zone around its star, where water is a liquid at surface atmospheric pressure. Earth-like is a subset of water worlds that have specific traits in common with Sol III.

Sweet Nutter. A very nice find.

I've explored a lot of systems, and I've found scores of water worlds, ammonia worlds and even a rocky world with oceans and lakes of water, but I've never, ever found an Earth like - ringed or otherwise.

Great find.

A ringed earthlike ... makes you wonder how often extinction events happen on the surface with all those rocks endlessly spinning around the planet...
