Imperial Elizebeth battle ship, great action (video)

I decided to head out to see what was happening.
I came across an Imperial Interdictor, Elizabeth. Awesome ship.
A big battle raging, i did not take sides as i wanted to have a good look around, and almost lost my ship from mis-judging flying through the rear ring of the ship.

My frame rate dropped to 30 fps, (normally min 60) but i am on ultra settings. and recording too.

This is exactly what the game needed, happy release day ED.
Now i am left wondering, what will happen over the next few days.
Will the battle keep raging, will the cap ship jump out, will it even get destroyed.

This is like a new trailer "With in game footage"

That's beautiful indeed, but is it more than a pretty picture or loot piñata? I have the same questions you do. Are they just infinitely spawning ships? Can the Empire actually "win" or "lose" the engagement based on anything we do or will it just end at someone's whim irregardless? I guess what I'm really asking would be is there a larger strategic or logistical simulation going on behind this other than someone at FDEV injecting an event and saying "this week there will be a battle at Sorbago, run run run!"

They are taking numbers into account - how many pilots took part at one side or another, how many kills, etc. For first year I expect FD to decide themselves using these numbers as important factors how to move forward with story. After that they will try to hand over more story stuff to background sim itself (as far as I remember from discussions in past).

TLDR at the moment numbers matter, they will be used to decide how to move forward with story.

In other words : Its again an endless battle with enemies spawning all the time until Frontier decides to end this battle?

I am only talkig about the battle showd in the video, not the conflict.

That plasma accelerator round at 5:17 came REALLY close. You don't want to get hit by one of those in a small ship :D

Pretty much for now, but still fun.

Hopefully in the future the individual warzones will play out organically with one side beaten/destoryed, and another flashpoint cropping up nearby in the same system. After all real conflicts are just not one endless battle. I'd also like to see Naval missions around distruption supply lines, deep strategic strikes agaist hub stations, comms relays etc.

It will be interesting if they go anywhere with warzones and conflict. The game is fun but it needs this added depth to hold attention in the long run.

Yes I really think that there should be a threshold for NPC Ship rank vs their size, else it is a bit silly... why the hell would a majestic class be offered to pilot to a beginner?

Else, I see a imperial clipper there shooting at the Imperial dreadnaught... since to pilot clipper one need to be Baron ranked with the empire, that shouldn't be possible neither... at least not from a NPC perspective?

my two cents...

Wait till you see one of those monstrosities jump in, gave me the willies the first time it happened.

Empire internal conflict is between huge subfactions, all of them wanting to take Emperor's place.

I second this, it's a bit silly to have Pvt Godfrey at the helm of a trillion dollar capital ship.

Its ok for you to have fun there. For me this is just unrealistic, boring and pointless. Why not spawn 2 fleets randomly in a War System that fight out the battle TO THE END, instead of inject static battles to just for statistic purposes :

"Hey Edward, the players shot 335930 Imperial ships, should we end the battle event?"

Pathetic.

Looks like the same old conflict zones we have had since I started playing in June with a new capital ship model arbitrarily pasted in the middle.

Watching the release party video when the staff fought a Imperial capital ship they damaged enough of their exhaust ports the ship had to break off and jump away. We players can affect what happens in the game.

I like the fact the Elizabeth shows as "Harmless" :D

Just a big ol' cuddly teddy bear.

That's at least two of the named whopping capital ships so far. The other one seen in the previous live event was the Duval.

Well...right up until it warps out and then warps right back at full health a few minutes later. If four fighters can routinely defeat a colossal capital ship, the Empire will be swept away in no time.

Alot people still dont realisze that npcs arent persitent and just repeatly spawning over and over again... kills the whole immersion for me.

The issue with creating short decisive battles is 99.9% of the players won't be able to take part as it will be over before you get there.
While that's believable in a real world sense and progresses the game in a single player game it makes for poor multiplayer.
War zones are the equivalent of PvP arenas, if you are playing in open you might find other players dropping in and joining on one of the sides especially in areas of high interest.
