News Implementation of a dedicated mission server

Of course what's the point of being offered the type of mission we want in a mission system gameplay?

Don't do mission ? Sure you then just remove the blackboard...

Mission rewards you rep, mats, and credit. Not doing them is punishing your progression.

I mean sure you have a combat ship and you will be offering all missions of delivery.

You have a cargo ship and you will be offered 20 missions or wing assassination. Not a joke here.

That's the logic here when poeple says: " give me the TYPE of mission I want to do and not the exact opposite "

And BTW they still didn't fix the damn stupid bug don't die bonus with bugs kill mission

Hourra.

Probably they are full on the next era (or not)

Hourra.

I let you make an experience.

Go to acropolis. Then try to find a mission of cyclops kill.
Good luck.

Probably you want transport mission ? They are legion there. But I doubt you will be able to do them in the AX ship.

Everyone you currently know, was once a stranger....
<snip>
Even if you call them from the yellow pages, it's still a random truck driver...
You're missing the point, or atleast drifting away from it.
You were using Amazon as an example of how much stuff is transported around the world by 3rd party logistics company and, as I understood it, used that as an argument for receiving more missions in ED.
That random truck driver you call in the yellow pages is exactly who we all are in ED. That guy will never have access to transport all the items Amazon ships out, and then choose which ones he wants to take on his truck. He has access to a random and limited amount of cargo to transport, because he is independent and most major companies choose an established cargo company to transport their goods, if they don't have their own transport section. They generally don't go through the yellow pages to find a random trucker, even for goods that need quick delivery or didn't make today's route. These companies normally have agreements with transport companies for those deals as well.

So wait, you amateurs don't have ships ready for a variety of situations to take advantage of the most lucrative contracts available, be they cargo hauling, passenger smuggling, weenie roasting, or bug juggling? I guess they let anyone call themselves a Commander these days.

I have a 160t Python called Transaction that's my go-to BGS ship, does that count?

You remove stacking of missions that pay out 5mil+

you buff missions that pay 100k by 10%

this will be terrible

Wrong.

They are ensuring that the same missions will be displayed for all Commanders regardless of mode. They are also buffing ALL mission payouts by 10%. The missions will now be hosted on a separate server, which can potentially improve the performance of the system.

I can also imagine it's a good start for making the whole system better and more complex in the future.

Good news all around!

So I just had this thougth. If I own Horizon, boot it up, get a board with Missions for planets, log out and go into Non-Horizon. Will I keep the "undoable" missions or will this be another way to board flip under the new system?

Hmm, who knows?
Before I bought horizons, the mission board was full of landmine fetching missions that I couldn't possibly accept as I couldn't land on planet bases.
Now I have horizons, but haven't seen a landmine mission in over a year.

Yup, and by building up your reputation (and rank) to the point where they consider you an ally, wouldn't that qualify as an agreement, a working relationship at least, just in case they need transport (etc)? Isn't that why they annoy you with jobs while you're busy doing other stuff? Not jobs in the same system, that suit the ship you're in mind you, something out of your way and totally unrelated. I've never seen one yet that that I've been in a suitable ship for at the time.

There are several logical disconnects in the current mission system. One of them is that the only thing that seems to happen as your reputation goes up is a pay increase and that's really not (if you read the previous walls of text that I've posted in this thread) what I've put hours into trying to help remedy. I'd love to be able to find the odd job going my way, enjoy a little RP, stop in here and there and see what they've got, make myself useful etc. In any ship with over 20LY range it's not worth bothering to even look unless I'm short on mission only materials so I fly everywhere empty and ignore the mission system, which is a real shame.

The reason why I'm (apparently) wasting my time playing 'forums' instead of the game is because I saw a video on youtube about the dedicated mission server and figured it might be an opportunity to chuck in some suggestions to try and help improve the QUALITY of the mission system to resolve the board flipping issue instead of just arbitrarily banning it. After 9000+ hours I've already got ~9 BCR, I couldn't care less about the credits and an "Instant win" button isn't going to do anything for game quality or relevance to the OTHER players, especially new recruits.

If anything the payouts are too high and the mission stack (20) is too big. Make it 10 so it's twice as easy to fill, which might cut the board flipping in half.

We all know this aint to fix anything got to do with missions right? this is just a way to stop people session switching for better paying missions which will lead to more grind and more oh your Elite? heres a mission for 1k credits to take these 100 canisters to colonia from the bubble...(I know exaggerated but you get the idea)

Hardware and performance improvements: Good.
Same Missions: Not so much, log off for night. :(

If I only give the mission server one chance a day, is coming back the next day "board flipping"? :)

It isn't, no. It updates every 15 mins or so (not sure of the exact time, I've never timed it).

We all know it is to make the game run more stable, including not having disconnects (as often) if the connection to the mission server fails. Not sure where you got the other bits from, but it's not from the OP.

I think you're completely wrong in your assessment of this change.

I'll be the 500th person to say it, but Frontier is once again kneecapping its player base while consistently failing to deliver on meaningful/engaging/original content....... and I quit. I've never made one of these posts anywhere, for any game, so congratulations, Frontier!

This last update was a joke (as with most updates), and Ace Combat is coming, so I will get my flying fix elsewhere. There's always Starfighter Assault in Star Wars Battlefront 2, as well. This game was a gift from a friend, but I spent at least $60 on skins, nameplates and a bobblehead. No more. I was happy to support you, but it's a two way street and I feel like, in this space relationship, all I do is give, and all you do is take.....so I bid you adieu.

Parutis runs are the backbone of this game, and for way more than 2% of the player base, btw. I really hope, for your sakes, that all those folks don't turn to griefing (ahem....excuse me, PVP) to burn off all their leftover cash.

Wake me up when we get space legs........and I bet you that it happens before they fix the Chieftain's interdictor.
