Think how much money they could make if they charged people 20 quid to read this update.
This is a very appreciated update. Elite is actually the one game I would blindly buy any update for, though over the last year there was very little for me. That whole Guardian/Thargoid stuff wants combat pilots, and that's not my thing. So I loved the ruins and the small things much more than all the guns and wartoys and have been (and still am) biding my time until Q4 drops. Missing out on ice planets and carriers is actually not a big thing for me. Basically because I am a patient person and don't cry like a child if a promised toy doesn't arrive on time.
But you know, Q4 has to be awesome. Like, spectacularly awesome. With lots of interaction with the galaxy... Meaningful exploration that's not only for profit and stuff like that...
Also looking forward to that "next Era" and I am kinda trying to think "Horizons landable planets" and not "overhauled textures" (not saying I didn't like the new planets, because those are still my highlight of the Beyond content so far).
Thanks for finally breaking the silence. I don't mind any bad news about postponed stuff at all. It's game development and so far Frontier has always been fair. I mean, I bought Horizons and so far I didn't pay for anything else but a few paintjobs and stuff from the shop...
Looking forward to Q4 and whatever comes after. Godspeed!
Maybe the delay will add a fully-featured diplomacy system to powerplay and squadrons.
What about the bug fixing?
Hey Tuntemetas,
I'm sorry to hear you're disappointed. What specifically was it that you were unhappy with?
An appeal on behalf of the guys who play in Solo Mode.
Is it too much to hope that there will actually be some new content for us simple folk who like to potter around the universe on our own?
All this stuff about wings, squadrons, carriers, Thargoids etc etc, which seems to take up 90% of your new output, is completely irrelevant to us.
We don't want to play in open because we do not want to be cannon fodder for the elite few in their invincible, multi-billion, over-engineered, god-mode weapon platforms against which we are totally defenceless.
Could you please stop constantly pandering to the whims of the top 10% who just want bigger and better things to blow up and start considering the rest of us.
Thank you.
- Some elements of the Chapter Four update have had to be prioritized and this means they won't be making it into the Chapter Four update.
- This means that other parts of the Chapter Four update have been able to get more time on them improving other elements of the update.
- In addition, we have now gone into early stages of development on the next era of content coming after the "Beyond" season. It's still very early so we aren't able to share those details with you right now.
- The Chapter Four update is still the largest update in the Beyond season and we'll be showing the content to everyone soon.
- We had said that there would be additional premium (paid for) content coming in 2018, but we have decided to not put that paid for content out this year and instead focus on the long term vision for the game and that future development.
- I am sticking around to answer questions like this to try and avoid any jumping to conclusions.
Hi!
There are a number of bug fixes going into the Chapter Four update. Is that what you mean?![]()
Because a lot of people look at the bigger picture.
Speculation is the mother of all rumours Zac
So, I see Chapter 4 being an extension of what we have with new elements for teamplay. Maybe even a civil war in the Alliance?
The unnamed era sounds interesting. If squadron carriers (speculation rising) cannot be introduced in chapter 4, I suspect its down to how the game works (P2P) and how such connectivity is too "fragile" across the player base for it to be a viable. Therefore (rumour control at full volume here) we may be looking at a complete new approach to multi-player provision and a move away from P2P and into the realms of "other games" methods of delivery. Once up and running then we get the introduction of carriers (rumour mill now smoking as the gears overheat) as paid for content.
Hey,
for me it is unnacceptable the delays and little to no information on it. I understand that it takes time, but being honest, since horizons delays have been common. I co-run an elite group with hundreds of members and they are getting more and more upset and losing faith in elite. i am not saying that as a "hey, I am super important", I am obviously not, but I have seen firsthand how a lot of people have left and some others are barely playing (including myself). We believe that this is for the lack of non-combat content.
So an in all, i am disappointed, I dont feel like up until horizons where every patch made me be full of hope and willing to play. Now (and i am saying that just fyi, not to prove a point or anything) every time I open elite I am unable to play more than a couple minutes if we are not doing an in-game community event or playing with other people. And what's worse, I am in love with elite, any other game can give me what elite gave me, but after some time you want to do something new...and elite is not able to catch up.
Well, sorry if that other people believe, It is just my opinion. I will still try to make it work![]()
