IMPROVEMENTS TO PATHS (suggestions)

The pathsystem in Planet Coaster works, but has a few flaws and could be better than what it is now, and would improve the game significantly. Some of these flaws create frustrations while playing. So away with the bad stuff; Frontier, add the good stuff!

The first thing is tunneling:

We want to have customizable/ajustible options for paths! (width, length, hight, stairs/slope, angle/degrees.. etc)
But also it would be fantastic to have a path closer to water... Because now we can't place a path near water for almost 3 meter! (same with hills).

And more textures!
Plus flexicolor paths[up]
That is a real must.

Also it would be great to have a snapping tool on roads for Fencing!!
Or for lights, benches and garbage bins?

Any other inputs?[happy] Like these ideas?[up]

Oh wow another thread with great ideas. That's a +1 from me[wink][up]

+1 from me too. Paths right now are a real pain to connect as they never do and when they do they’re all over the place.

Please improve the path system frontier, it’s really inconsistent right now…

+1000 from me. My god most everything else in the game is done so well and the pathing system is so frustrating and tedious to use. It almost seems like frontier just gave up trying to make it better at some point. :(

Most real tunnels are not made only of terrain, but are solid structures inside the terrain. So to get your desired tunnel height, just make the interior of tunnel using scenery or building pieces, it will look better.

The 4m path tunnel height limit needs to allow for tall characters like Captain Lockjaw who reaches above 3m tall, so it's probably best to keep your tunnels at least 3m tall anyway.

With placing paths close to water, if you start the path over the water (hold CTRL and SHIFT), you can get close....

Kerbs on elevated paths need to be there, otherwise the path would be a flat plane and look a bit odd when viewed from side on (zero thickness). It would look like people were floating.

Apart from that, I like the suggestion for new path textures.

A simple thing for me to improve pathing is the option to remove kerbs on elevated paths. I get what is said about them looking odd at times, however the option would allow for raised decking areas to look aesthetically pleasing.

.. and for the love off all things classy, get rid of the employee and the accompanying set of posts that ruin entrances to queue lines (or make it optional for those of us who prefer realism).

I disagree that kerbs always 'need' to be on elevated paths, because there's many times when paths aren't used just by themselves. It's frustrating when you place a path, either over water or raised in the air, and add either a bridge or build a structure around them only to have to choose to either have the kerbs stick out above the flooring of the bridge or structure, or need to raise them high enough so the kerb isn't seen but then the peeps feet noticeably sink into the bridge.

For myself I'd also much rather have a terrain tunnel that looks better and more in scale than to need to build a surround for the path, especially if your path meanders or curves and isn't just a straight shot, especially from the standpoint of adding unnecessarily to a park's piece count. I'll agree that the height of certain assets like Capt Lockjaw limits how tall a tunnel can be, but the width of them is certainly excessive in my view. I too also like the idea of added path textures and love the idea for adding narrower path options.

I too really dislike some of the odd kinks you get in paths, especially at junctions, and that divot in the terrain that sometimes comes up is sometimes a pain to hide.

But you can't get any closer with a path than what you show on that picture. I think it's desireable to have the freedom to place them as close to the body of water as the player wants them to. Also, most of the time placing paths near water or a hill is a pain because most of the time they can't be placed. So it would be great if they look into that.

The ability for kerbs to can be removed without having zero thickness underneath the path can be implemented. With that said; the thickness underneath the path is also something to think about, because the thickness is sometimes too thick for what is 'realistic'. Like; when you have an elevated wooden path of two meter in hight, there is no need to have a thick concrete/stone support of 1 meter in depth.

In the propotion to the peeps/guests, it would have been more reasonable, if they had adapted the path segments, as well as the walls to a 3x3m grid instead of a 4x4m one.
