I see no harm in it only good.

"I failed a mission because the mission time was in UTC, and I used my timezone."

So, FD then recodes mission timers

"WHY DID YOU WASTE DEV TIME RECODING MISSION TIMERS AND NOT FIXING BUG X?"

this would not have arisien had FD invented some time method, such as 10 ticks per tock, 100 tocks per click and 10 clicks per cycle and showed that as in game time. It's only because they chose UTC that people demand an in game clock.

I see what you are saying and you're right. But since they did chose UTC it makes people think of real world time. And if you are not used to working across timezones, it can be confusing.
In RL, when I have had to. I keep two or three world clocks running. Even if it is just to say good morning or good evening.
If you are looking for a "Lore" type reason. How about? The diaspora of commanders always have a thought for home and what the folks back there are doing now. So keep a clock tuned into their home time.

It is just using a different time variable.

Did a quick search and didn't see anything, so...

Could we possibly get an option to display our clock in local time? Is this even the right place to ask this? Should I just go somewhere and write a suggestion ticket? Where would that be?

That would screw up all timed based missions that use the game clock for access windows to target etc.

BAD IDEA!

How is this a problem?
Just count? Add or remove a few hours and this is it. I never look at a real clock, because when I see the in game time I know the real time. It's not that hard, don't be lazy :)
