In Open Play, is Killing Innocent CMDRs Fair?

Or I could be doing any of the things that's listed, why should i be harshly punished for playing the game the way I want when the game was advertised as allowing me to play the way I want just because you're inconvenienced?

also

"Why should I play in a World of Warcraft PvE server when I can spend all my time in the PvP server whining about PvP?"

That's your logic.

You know what's funny, there are players who whine about PvP servers on the WoW forums. When instructed to just change servers, then it's suddenly a hassle, inconvenience and "why should they." They honestly expect Blizzard to change a server's PvP rules, or players to change how they PvP because they don't like the minor inconvenience of having to run back to their body.

I tried a PvP WoW server, after a while of consistently being killed in open zones I grew tired of it and just changed to a server that catered for my play-style.

"Playing the way you want" doesn't mean "playing without consequences for my actions".

No, but it does mean that my way of playing should be just as viable as anybody else's. If the consequences are high, the rewards should be too.

you, sir, are smarter than the majority of people in this thread.

I haven't called for harsh punishments I think you are getting posters mixed up.

I'm not whining about PVP I like PVP, I'm pointing out that clogging is as justifiable as one sided PVP and no worse in my opinion.

So again we touch on the C&P. Again no real response from FD, of course. Fly around doing what you want without consequence. Fly through any system, dock where you want.. High Sec, Low Sec, who cares, none of it matters. How dumb is that?!

Neither is menu exiting.

Then neither is Robigo, neither was the g5 for g1, neither is the dude who glitched his way in to Palin when he didn't have him unlocked.

After all, it's all totally doable within the confines of the games functionality, therefore it's not an exploit, right?

Unless there is a real world reason for it ( an actual emergency ), clogging is never justifiable, IMHO. Clogging, to me, is basically saying "I want to be in Open, but I don't want to accept the consequences of that decision."

Oh come off it. Menu exiting is working as intended, the G5 for G1 mats was an exploit. There is a world of difference.

Menu Exiting was meant to allow you to leave the game when you're done playing, not to allow you to become invincible by escaping from all combat situations whenever you start to lose. If that isn't exploiting the game's functions to gain an advantage then neither is the G5 for G1.

Ok, you're being deliberately obtuse now so there's little point in continuing this.

Nope, cmdr has their 15 secs window to do damage to the ship, but if attacker so weak and unable to bring damage, then it is his problem.

I'm using the same logic as the people trying to argue that combat logging is acceptable. If you think that's obtuse then you acknowledge that you have to be obtuse to defend combat logging as being an acceptable approach to combat.

Sandro has said it's going to be a thing. Trouble is it's a wee bit more difficult than just changing one line of code:

ysnCandP = FALSE;
to
ysnCandP=TRUE;

Yeah, we get it takes some coding. But we're how many years into this game now? The Galaxy has always had designated security levels, and for what? They never really meant anything to begin with. We have had countless 'gank' posts, some probably right, some moaning, all the in-betweens, all due to the joke Galaxy allowing anyone to do anything without consequence. You realise how stupid this is right? The base game has no guts.. they never even laid any foundations and it's taken its toll in so many ways..

Gosh darn it just got fresh popcorn. :D

Have to say even though this thread has fallen foul to the normal route of threads on this sort of thing it has been entertaining.

Depends on what you mean by 'combat logging'. If you mean 'exiting to the menu' then that's working as intended and, as pointed out above, you still have 15s to melt the other guy. Should be even easier since they're just a sitting duck.

If you mean 'yanking the network cable' then absolutely that should not be allowed, and repeat offenders should suffer some consequences.

So anybody who runs a 7k hull tank with boosted prismatics gets a free pass to never die in combat ever again because all they have to do is make their ship able to survive for 16 seconds under fire?

What a stupid thing to say.

In the same way that you say we don't have to know the purpose behind you attacking a player, you in turn don't have to know the reason for someone menu exiting. Real life does get in the way sometimes. If you think a player is repeatedly doing this then just block them and/or report them and move on.

Nope. Which is why I don't do those things either
