A few of the species in my pack on the previous page have either been added (striped hyena) or have had a very similar species added (Indian crested porcupine), so I have decided to remake my India Animal Pack. In fact, there are so many good animals I think are missing from India that I have created both an animal pack and a scenery pack.
Animal Pack
1. Bar-headed goose - Adds the most commonly-kept of the exotic geese in zoos, really a species that would feel at home in basically any zoo
2. Blackbuck - The most commonly-kept of the Asian antelopes globally, visually very striking and a species pretty high on the forum wishlist
3. Four-horned antelope *
4. Indian spotted chevrotain *
5. Lion-tailed macaque - Among the most recognisable of the Indian monkeys, highly endangered and an excellent representative of the tropical Western Ghats mountains
6. Sloth bear - Another recognisable Indian species, and probably one of the most desirable large Indian species missing from Planet Zoo
7. Yellow-throated marten - Excellent representation for the Indian Himalayas if I say so myself; colourful, active sociable and would add a new type of mustelid to the game
Walkthrough exhibit. Grey slender loris - A small and slow-moving nocturnal primate that has the benefits of being more sociable than slow lorises and also not having a venomous bite
* Neither of these ungulates are kept outside of the Indian Subcontinent any more, but I won't lie and say I would just really love to see both of them. They would add an interesting pair of species (the antelope would be the one four-horned species of bovid, and the chevrotain a really beautiful member of a group otherwise completely unrepresented in the game) that I think would look brilliant when housed together. Although they are no longer kept outside the Indian subcontinent, they are both pretty common in zoos within it - in 2018, a total of 206 chevrotains were kept in 7 Indian zoos, while with four-horned antelope a more modest 143 animals were kept in 14 zoos. I would personally say both have more than sufficient captive representation to be welcome.
Scenery Pack
1. Chital - Perhaps the most commonly-kept of the Indian deer in zoos worldwide, which is colourful and has a lot of utility in mixed enclosures
2. Fishing cat - Among the most unique small cats missing from the game, this semi-aquatic feline is also pretty widespread in zoos worldwide
3. Indian star tortoise - Another widely-kept species, this threatened medium-sized tortoise would add an excellent smaller habitat reptile to the game
4. Northern Plains grey langur - Another well-known primate from India, suitable for walkthrough enclosures and also pretty adaptable in terms of biome
Exhibit. King cobra - Probably the most requested standard exhibit species in the game, and one of the most emblematic species from India missing in the game
