Insane Ship Name Generator now with 22 Character Limit

Kneejo, there must be an error in the word list where the pattern code 'e' is inadvertently attached to just the word 'cowardic'.

I suspect it's actually the word 'cowardice' and a space has slipped in there resulting in 'cowardic e'

In hindsight I should have read the instructions. :) But still a funny coincidence.

I'm going to be updating the generator with some new features.

One of those will be a drop down of common patterns, what patterns would people like to see in there?

At the moment I've got the classic two.

[The Adverb Adjective Noun]
[Adjective Noun]

What other patterns have people had fun with?

Started work on an API to support a new simpler front end that will come in time.

I'd like to hide all the mad configuration options by default, allowing power users to access them if they want to.

At the moment the API generates 10 random names, choosing randomly from a list of available patterns.

You can see its raw output working here: http://isnapi.azurewebsites.net/api/names/

I made a mad ship name generator a long time, and now it's become much more relevant with 2.3, so I though I'd share it again!

http://shipnames.azurewebsites.net/

Instructions on how to use are on the page, if you come up with some good patterns then share them with everyone else.

Cheers

Iain
Without wanting to put down what you have created.

This is not insane, insane is....well look at the kinds of names players have made in other games, what have you created is creative, not insane.

It can also double as a Thargoid Insult Generator:

Eat Violent Sitcoms, Poet!

Why Did The Groigan Dance?

Edit: some remarks/observations/ideas:
  • The "indefinite article" and "nominative" pattern codes do not seem to work.
  • Something like [When]|[Where] does also not work (perhaps I'm just trying to push this too far...)
  • A pattern code "W" for "why", "where", "who", "when", "how"... would be nice.
  • Patern codes to select the tense (past, future...) or mood (imperative) of verbs?

Thanks, I'll add those ideas to the backlog for review and prioritisation :)

It's got so many complicated grammar terms tho... so I'm just mashing buttons :D
