You might want to consider separating proper nouns (names) from nouns, if that's possible.

I think "D" is a slight misnomer - the definite article is "the;" numbers, quantifiers and articles are all determiners.

"Wife Type Seven Stone." Ironically, this is not far from the truth.

There isn't a 22 character limit on ship naming.

Frontier support incorrectly reported that there was on reddit and the rumour started. Zac has since corrected this. The actual limit is based on width.

"The currently limit is 22 characters. The ship name hull placement has a fixed space available, so shorter names will appear larger and vice versa.
EDIT: This piece of information was incorrect. The space available for ship names will be determined by width, not character number. Zac has provided some clarity on this thread's discussion here.

Ah, cool, thanks for the clarification.

Still, an option to produce ship name suggestions of X width would still be really useful, so that I can get some short snappy suggestions for my smaller ships.

No not unique, enter your own letters and numerals. As with names you need to purchase a plate to be displayed.

You're the first person to ask that since the change. But on the other side of the coin no one has also asked, "I don't understand all these options" :)

I've hidden the options, it's possible to reshow them with CTRL-B*, but they are not labelled at present and not styled.

The first text box is a comma separated list of patterns the API will choose from, the check box is alliteration and the drop down is obviously the sanity. More insane responses, particularly 0, may take longer to get a random name outta the system, still tweaking performance. I've got sanity 1 and above down to 20ms, but 0 is still a bit longer to response.

Hopefully most people won't need the options, they are set on sanity 5 by default. Although I might drop that a little, not sure.

I will style and label them soon.

It's funny, because some of the NPCs I saw flying around last night had very similar names to the results given by you simpler versions.

Are you sure Frontier aren't running a script through your generator online? :D
