Thanks a ton man. Yeah I had to re-read the thread. Problem for me was I was changing a duplicate cfg file that wasn't used. Once I changed the one inside EDFX's reshade folder it worked fine. I call his FX the "Cold FX'. Mine before had heat blur and was generally red and warm, with very bright stars. This one does damn good planets, pretty good stars. I'm going to play with it for a bit. I really liked my old cfg though. Lol, switched all my Logitech stuff from red to blue now. Winter is coming.

EDIT: Which is to say, if you have EDFX, just install this in your profiles. You'll be able to switch from the default to this effect. Just create a folder in profiles and put everything in there. Take the .xml cfg file and replace the old one and everything should be kosher (and blue).

Are you on Win 8.1 or Win10?
Try disable anything the might hook into the same processes as Reshade uses ie Logitech software, Fraps, Nvidia Experience or any similar AMD stuff etc.

The only good thing about reshade and sweetfx is the SMAA, other than that its personal preference, i too do not like the over saturated or too much contrast that reshade and sweetfx give you. Yes you can alter things slightly but you cannot totally change them. Saying that MFAA works fine from the ingame menu so no need for SMAA.

Totally agree that it's all about personal preference. But ReShade can in many ways alter how a game feels and not just looks. I for one feel that ED doesn't deliver enough graphically, and I want to make it look more like what I have in mind when I think of space.

Insomnia, rather than replacing the default GraphicsConfiguration.xml, couldn't you instead overwrite the GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics\GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml ?

Seems like a less risky option (won't get overwritten during updates, iirc).

I dont know honestly. Might work.
But that would require users to manually "install" the custom .xml settings into that overrider.
Besides, users could just unzip my package and copy paste the .xml again after an update.

Did you ever update your Reshade download to have the 1.0 binary or is that still something we have to personally do? I'm on the fence about messing with Reshade as I have Win 8.1 so I'd like to know before hand.

I will update. No worries. Gonna sit down today and update to 1.1. No promises but hopefully it will happen today.
