Interesting things, missing

Why this game hasnt interesting things like:

- zooming module (scope)
- invisibility module,
- huge weapon atom bomb/ super cannon,
- ramming shape ship kit (functional)
- super jump 1000y with huge CD
- tracking device fired from specific weapon
- high explosive cargo or cargo mines (actually doing dmg when detonated)
- rear camera, bottom (docking) camera (in cockpit monitor or with pressing one button)
- rear (defender), front (attacker) shield boosters
...

and that are only few things come to mine mind in 10min, they can create better.

These kind of things are not in game because of lore of Old 1984 ED? Why they keep adding something very similar to already existing in-game items?
Question can be apply to ships too, nothing interesting only "different" (missing some very unusual shapes, and all ships have aerodynamic shape?)

Fdevs have been extremely reluctant to add new mechanics into the gameplay loop since December 2015 when horizons came out. We'll see how Q4 goes.

Some of your suggestions are completely impractical, like the tracking device and the "atomic bomb", because we can't really interact with the world in any meaningful way, probably because of the game mmo wannabe structure.
Others, like rear camera zoom module and even Jump gates and blind jumps are such a must have in a space sims I have no idea why they haven't been added yet. The closest we have to these ideas is the Gnosis ship, which I only barely know what's about because of yesterday's oa video, since I read nothing related to it on galnet.

*shrugs* Again, let's see how much new gameplay Q4 brings.

How about this..
Size 4 APA
Size 3 packhound misslerack
Size 1 to 4 plasma repeater
Size 3 and 4 railguns
Artificial FSD superchargers (mass relays)
Wing beacon that stays on!!

Oh yeah and a size 1 PA

I allready have zoom, its called triple monitor.

yes, horizons was only break through worth extra money and time. But since then ...

not that kind of zoom :D. You can also change FOV configuration, but it is not practical.

Lets see:

- zooming module (scope) - yes please, so we can take a closer look at tiny dot that we are about to scan.
- invisibility module - not really needed we have silent running.
- huge weapon atom bomb/ super cannon - more pew pew... not for me thanks.
- ramming shape ship kit (functional) - could be fun, why not!
- super jump 1000y with huge CD - as I despise traveling system that we currently have and are permanently stuck with I would love this!
- rear camera, bottom (docking) camera (in cockpit monitor or with pressing one button) - it would make sense especially for big ships like Beluga, also older ED games had it.
- rear (defender), front (attacker) shield boosters - more options the better, yes!

In quake 3 you could use console commands to bind a key to toggle a huge FoV reduction (effectively a strong zoom), it was one of the best kept secrets of railgun masters for a long time. I wonder if something similar could be done in Elite? I've never even tried to use the console in game, might go have a little google.

I am going to be Nigel No Friends in this thread, but nothing the OP has suggested with the exception of the camera would interest me in the slightest. I would hate to have jump gates in the game, as they would be the logical place for gankers to wait as everyone would have to transverse them so they would have a captive target (assuming there would be one jump gate per system).

As for the camera, yeah it would be useful but to me not imperative, there are a lot of other things FD could occupy themselves on. For me the camera would only be useful when landing on a planet or when you first rise up in a station to depart, I am always expecting some geezer in a Beluga to run into me.

I'm with you. Nothing in the original list interests me or fits in with Elite with, as you say, the exception of the cameras. Jump gates? It's not the X_Universe. No thanks.

Now, if we could get surface waypoints or even a lat/long grid...

Tracking limpets were mentioned by Sandro some time ago. On the 12th May 2017:
“Some form of bounty tracker has been on the “big list” for some time – the concept definitely something we like, whether it’s a limpet, some form of tie-in with wake scanning, or something else. Of course, there are some technical challenges to overcome, so no ETA or guarantee, but I think we’re all on the same page here.”

I make points only for demonstrations of how they should add things. Something game-changing and for a lot of people (i hope) more interesting than generic ships/weapons/objects.

dont need to be jump gate but specific FDS module designed for one long jump and huge CD. [smile] All points i made in first post can be implemented in some cool way.

heh . that would be cool. Easy to implement and functional. But im worried about object quality on range.
I hope you share your google findings with us! [noob]

But they do add things, just maybe not the things you want. Remember FD have to cater for the entire player base, and try to keep everyone somewhat happy. To be honest, most of the concepts you suggested would be terrible and add no gameplay. An atomic bomb, I can guarantee the first one used would be on a station for the lulz. And would you like to be in a CZ when someone decides to use one and takes out all ships within 10km, including yours? A zoom function, everyone would just have it on permanently and we would be back to the status quo we have now. As Vasea Azure said, we already have silent running, so having an invisibility mode is just useless. Of the two, I would keep silent running as it take a little skill to use in conjunction with the heat sinks etc, much more game inclusive that just hitting the bit old invisibility button (and there would have to be some counter to it, so yet another utility slot gets taken up).

Yes this game can do with a lot of things being added, no doubt about that what so ever. But lets keep the game somewhat true to the concept and not bring in gimmicks.

Sorry but , yes i would like to be destroyed by atomic bomb :d . I find it very interesting and fun to see that. Lulz is best way to make "fun" in game, and game is for fun right?

Also i dont say just put bomb and dont make actions against abuse. for example bases detect it for far far away and destroy it somehow or weapon dont allow you to drop it there. And when it cost XYZ millions of credits or huge amount of mining/ finding material across all galaxy i dont see problem.

How you guys cant see "fun" in things, and actions about abuse it. Think "out of the box" its old but true, things like that working in other games also they can learn from mistakes and make it better...

Rear and side views were a thing back in the day of my playing Elite on an Acorn Archimedes. Was great to fit mining lasers to the side for a bit of on the fly prospecting. The rear view was good for lining up your ship to the slot, prior to spinning it over and heading for the station entrance slot. Rear view with military lasers was good for pew pew pirates in pursuit ;-)
Ahhhh those were the days... Jumpers for goalposts etc etc .......

Aye or a harpoon, EMP (a la thargoid), shockwave emitter, shock impulse (pushes off surrounding ships, defensive). Directional stellar body scanner (locate material deposits from ship), trade market tool, flak, etc.

Come on guys, don't be be quite so dismissive, the zoom thing should be in the game. ;)

But yeh, before zoom, I'd take long/lat waypoints and orrery system view.
