I get all my news from reliable Australian new sites. The CDC test for covid-19 wasn't working at the start. There was a doctor requesting a test and alerting the CDC and they shut him down (like China). This is what happened in America, it's the truth as far as I know it. I hope you guys are OK but I don't think you will be. That last part is opinion. I have no agenda.

I think the governments know things and do not inform us.

I think the economic and political effects will be at least as harsh as the health-related ones. Maintaining the sea and air bridge to the UK is holy writ for how the US military is trained. A lot of people are going to feel trapped in their current locations, if they can't reach the UK. Tom Clancy would be proud of his predictive abilities...
I'm set for a month of sitting it out. My personal health has improved. What happens after the 3 week mark after this weeks panic will be crucial.

I'll bet the travel bans won't cover the military air corridors so the bridge is still up.

We're going to be overwhelmed like the Italy, the Spain.
Our Minister of National Education announced this morning that more than half of the French population will receive the virus (without necessarily being symptomatic).
On a global level, the financial repercussions will be felt for a long time, months, years no doubt.
In monster movies there's always a festival as well, sometimes in disaster movies. Me and Mrs Stigbob like to play guess the festival in the opening scenes. Surprisingly easy usually.

It is absolutely unbelieveable how there STILL are people who, if someone points the desastrous that happened in the US, and the extremely dire State the country is in at the moment re SARS - CoV -2, can only, insitinctively react with "WahWah Antiamerican!!!" .
Have you guys NOT heard what YOUR people say? Have you guys not seen Fauci testify in front of the Commitee ? Have you NOT heard the CHAIR of that same Comittee comment on the Situation ? I mean, by just looking at what TRUMP said about this thing during the last 2 weeks, you can instantly realize that he a) had no clue and b) was downplaying the whole thing . And then, when it started taking off beyond what could be talked away, his attitude slowly, slowly started to change . Am I wrong in the administration PROMISING to deliver 1 million tests until Friday 6th ? AM I wrong in, according to Voices from WITHIN the USA, they barely managed to get out 75k, and it STILL is fact that even healthpractitioners can not get tested even if they are kind of sure they have contracted the Virus ?
And really, do you REALLY think you can have a good grasp on the severity of this problem in terms of people infected and people dieing to it, with SO little testing and surveillance ? According to CDCs own numbers, there have been roughly 6.5k people tested in the US up to the beginning this week, since somewhen end of February . Granted, they ramped up the testing somewhat during the past week....but other countries test more people PER DAY than what the USA did in the first 6 weeks of having people infected in country .
At about 6.5k people tested, you had roughly 10% positive, and iirc about 10% of those positive dieing to it . If you simply take THESE numbers as your basis for calculation....lets see...300 mill/10 is 30 million / 10 is 3 million . 3 million dead to Covid-19 . But that number will likely be surpassed greatly, because you WILL NOT HAVE ENOUGH BEDS AND EQUIPMENT TO CARE FOR THE SICK ! YOUR DOCTORS WILL HAVE TO LET PEOPLE DIE, JUST AS IS HAPPENING IN ITALY FOR OVER A WEEK NOW : AND THAT WILL DRIVE UP NUMBERS OF DEAD FAR BEYOND WHAT YOU ARE SEEING NOW .

People have been groomed to not only reject different views, expert opinion and inconvenient facts in recent years they've been groomed to be outright hostile to it. Its really not their fault.
To them its all just fake news and scaremongering. Except about the invented things they want you to be scared of in which case the fake news and scaremongering is truth.

I tend to think of the current situation as a tidal wave. It's gonna sweep in, do it's damage and then recede for a year. Next year, it will sweep in again, do less damage but only because there will be less to damage this time, and then recede again. Lather, rinse, repeat until there's little left to damage and then it will just become part of the "ocean" of flues that already plague us each season. Unhappy news for those who are most vulnerable to this, but a sad reality just the same. :/
Till the vaccine is deployed, this is the likely scenario.
The scale of the thing is still underestimated.
This is especially ironic given that when I was advising people to take reasonable precautions and stock up their pantries before cases were reported anywhere but China, you were the one leading the charge to point that this was nothing but the common cold and that I was overreacting and contributing to food shortages and hording. Fake news and grooming people is a thing, and buddy, you're one of the first people who comes right to mind on this forum when I think of the harmful practice.
