Introducing the Cockpit Paint Mod (CPM)

I'm a Krait Phantom user, this is the perfect time for me to help with the beta testing.... but after entered on the Discord I'm a little confused about how to try the CPM - there is no instructions about how to setup, and the github that marvin mentioned have on the commit history the deletion of a zip file, and we only have the PDFs and the Readme.md file in there
He keeps advertising a private beta on the open forums so it all makes us think we can use it when the fact is we can't. This is the second time this has happened.

Heya, I’m not sure what you mean here

1. The first Cobra demo was only for a CM to try, which I already explained

2. The Anaconda prototype was available for everyone to try. I’ve recently taken it off the GitHub as it’s now out-of-date

3. And the current beta is available for anyone to try. I do these early betas on discord so I can get focused feedback and suggestions

So yeah, “makes us think we can use it when the fact is we can't" isn’t really correct!

Hi, you’re welcome to try the beta. Just pop in and say hi I’d like to try the CPM beta and either myself or Blue Mystic will give you access. I don’t make it an open channel as I’d really like feedback, plus I don’t want hundreds of buggy versions floating around (but hopefully the bugs are minimal)

Once it’s bug free and stable I’ll put up the release files on GitHub for open access

Then where is it?

It is not on your github download page where the original mod was. Only the old PDF's are there.

The beta files are on the EDHM discord .. they don’t go to the GitHub until I’m certain they’re bug free

When you arrive on the discord just say Hi, I’d like to try the CPM beta, then myself or Blue Mystic will give you access to the CPM beta channel. The reasons why I do it this way are a few posts above, but usually the closed beta only needs 3 or 4 days of testing

I think the beta is only on his Discord channel for the focused feedback he is looking for. I think it's in the post above yours here. ;)

Why on earth would anybody do that?

This has been without doubt the most chaotic, disorganized, counterintuitive mod release I have ever encountered. This is how this whole thing has panned out:

You: Here it is. Download it here and here's how to install it.
Us: We can download it but it's password protected.

You: OH! That wasn't for any of you. That's just for one person.
Us:

You: OK, here's a pink Cobra Mk III to try.
Us:

You: OK, here's the whole thing with an Anaconda for everybody to try.
Us: WOW! This is great! It's fantastic!

You: OK, here it is with more ships added.
Us: Where? It's not there.

You: OH! I'm not doing things like that here anymore. You have to go over and create an account on Discord, then log in, then wait 10 minutes before you're allowed to speak and then ask permission to use it.

Yeah. Keep it. I'm out.

the reason it is done like this is so the rest of the ED community dont get a buggy unable to use cpm mod. Georg and Blue Mystic would rather give u something that works 100% and have everyone happy with there mods then give people glitchy incomplete mods that cause everyone headaches. u have a choice: Either join the discord channel and become a beta tester or sit here and know we r working to make sure u all get a great experience with the mod being patient and knowing exactly what u will get with this mod in 3-4 days. i personally was sceptical about joining the group at first months ago cause of experiences i have had with discord for other games but i am now i glad i join the edhm discord channel cause everyone is so friendly and helpful there.

And that could have been done a lot cleaner, with more detailed instructions and insight on how it was being done with a great deal less confusion.

There are a great many people that do not know anything about how you do things. Explaining them would be nice. It has been absolutely nothing but total chaos unless you're the one "in the know".

Read this thread. The vast majority of the people in it are exactly like me: lost, confused, baffled and more. There's absolutely no reason for that to be the case but it has been. It's been absolute chaos since day one. That's all there is to it.

I'm having an absolute blast walking around with the new beta in VR. So excited to see this mod getting developed. Here's a few of the themes I've built so far based on the exterior paint skins I usually run on my most used ships.

Hiya, not really, ETAs really depend on what's going on IRL. However, the current version seems to be working well (about 10 ships) so I'll put it up on the github tomorrow. Each ship takes about 3 to 4 hours to mod so it's just a matter of having free time
Hello! It's been a month and no follow up posts, where can CMDRs find the github link to download this? Thanks! o7

Just finished the Dolphin, which is the last ship planned for the CPM. I really like the layout of the Dolphin's dashboard, big credit to the FDev design team

Going for a full public release this weekend (download from my GitHub, but I'll announce it here)

PS. The colour scheme isn't great for this demo image, I just use contrasting colours to differentiate the sections, I'm sure you'll be able to do a better job :)

@GeorjCostanza you spoil us rotten with your amazing work, so it is completely inappropriate for me to ask... but I just have to -

Have you ever considered doing anything TTS or stored audio files with the NPC system chat?

Please forgive me for asking. I enjoy the EDHM every time I play!

This is the shiny pipe you're looking for! :)

The public release of the CPM is now available on GitHub or Discord

New features have been added, mainly to do with texture smoothing, and I'm currently making a video instructional guide. In the meantime there's a text guide on the GitHub

I look forward to seeing your creations!
