Is anyone still Xeno-Friendly? If so why?

I’ll admit, I was initially one of those commanders that really wanted to communicate with them. I was wrapped up in the idea that there is just some kind of misunderstanding and we were in the wrong somehow. After everything that has happened and is happening, I no longer believe that such a thing can happen. There can be no peace. They really are like insects. A wasp nest. I’m fascinated by bees, I LOVE THEM however, I will not allow myself to be stung everyday by a hive of growing wasps who feel like my house and yard is their domain. As much as I would love to just have them set up a hive in my tree so I can look at them and be in awe of their majestic nature, I need to get a ladder and smash the hive into a ball with my bare hands. So as the title explains, why are you still xeno-friendly?

In the first weeks after their arrival I was like you, thinking that somehow we could interact with them in a friendly/neutral manner.
Not anymore!!!
Station attacks, Scout Marauders attacking on sight, bigger more agresive flower variants....
Nope, they're here with unfriendly intentions and although I'm not actively engaging them at the moment I will kill every Scout on sight.

I have my thoughts about the integrity of Aegis but I don't think they're the only reason for the Thargoid's aggressive behavior.

If they get further into the core systems we should definitely make plans to kick them out of the bubble in my opinion.

Because I have this religious view that FD will one day live up to its promise of allowing us to choose how it all goes down.
It's a matter of faith, you may not mock me.

According to my Stats, I'm at "Notoriety : 0" with Thargoids. I guess technically that makes me still "Neutral" when it comes to them.

If I hadn't entered a few Non-Human Signal Sources, I'd have never even seen a single one of them anyway.

Now... since they're just re-skinned NPCs with the usual limitations (no meaningful Interaction possible other than >none< or >Weapons Fire<), I have zero interest in the whole thing.
They leave me a lone, I leave them alone, end of story.
Don't need yet another series of scripted, fixed 1980's style shoot-em-up elements, seen enough of those in the last 100+ Games I've played. Super old and boring from my perspective.

Compare the aggressive response of Guardian sentinels to the passiveness of most Thargoids. My bet is that we’ll need the Thargoids when the real bad guys turn up.

Then we'll have to kick them out too.
If either of them or both turn out to have bad intentions then we should hit them hard without remorse.
Sure, neutrality or beneficial agreements should be an option but imho we can't let our guard down......ever.

I still am neutral.
The reason is that I am still unsure what is going on with the Thargoids.
I do not want to attack something when I do not understand it.

Currently the Thargoids are not outright aggressive towards everyone.
There seems to be a pattern behind it.
Perhaps FDev added a way to keep track of cmdrs who attacked Thargoids, which might influence future responses of these aliens.
I hope that my neutrality pays off in the long run.

I am. Well...Xeno neutral to be more accurate.

The fact that you never seen Thargoids attacking human ships in any of those USS is what still bothers me. They always seem to be cleaning up the mess and looking for stuff. Plus, they never rush you and start attacking immediately, which is another aspect that bugs me.

I've been under the delusion that what you do in the game matters. That FD is tracking what players interactions with barnacles, Thargoids, Guardians and such have been, and that the players will someday be presented with differing game play based on what actions they did or did not take.

I'm beginning to waver and think that I've probably been deluding myself and simply missing out on a ton of content that doesn't matter a jot when it comes right down to it.

Hmm, that sounds a bit 'ranty'. Sorry about that!

Edit: Ninja'd by Iskariot, minus the rant.

I'm kind of in the same boat myself. I have heard the lore about the different Thargoid "Tribes" and have been waiting for more info to be revealed on that front to help make an informed decision as to whom are our true enemies and who might be trying to prevent attacks, or possibly become allies.

I keep waiting and hoping for a report to come in of someone dropping into a Non-Human USS and witnessing Thargoid ships fighting each other!

Wouldn't that be an interesting development?

I have been and always will be Credit Friendly.

If the Thargoids offer to pay me for something, then I'll be friendly to their credits.
Otherwise, I'm content to leave them be if they leave me be.

So far we have no evidence to show AEGIS as being anything like INRA, and I seriously doubt anyone can really claim the moral high ground here. Odds are everybody's got somebody's blood money in their pockets somewhere.

The Thargoids are attacking stations that have aegis labs this is correct, but they are essentially targeting the only means of us defending ourselves against them. They are attempting to disarm us. Killing thousands of innocent people at those stations. They are at war with humanity plain and simple. They may view those innocent people as collateral damage but that does not excuse their actions. They are abducting people at those USS’s. Do you think that once they have destroyed all the aegis stations that they will just say ok we’re done attacking? I personally believe that once they have disarmed us that they will then start a full scale invasion. Do not deluded yourself into thinking they mean no harm. Their actions have clearly stated the contrary.
