Is Frontier Stalling Thargoid Content till E3 or PS4 Release?

There will be an exciting CG to "Collect bio-waste and take it to xyz to help colonists blockade the alien advance."

That sounds like a good plan, until we discover that the aliens literally do consider that to be "tasty cargo". :D

I haven't seen one either, so I'm hardly being selfish.

Dude, you're basically saying that only a select group of players should get the full game experience.

You'd be a terrible game writer, sorry.

'Select group'?

sorry, is there some sort of membership card I didn't know about?

You said it should be rare. Maybe I acted rather hyperbolically.

But... Thinking that one of the most spectacular events in a game should be rare, well, sorry. That's a terrible idea.

And such events need to be driven by the BGS, rather than having to be 'hand injected' all the time. And at some point they *really* do need to be interactive. Rather than all of this "we'll disable the ship, and make it a cut scene 'cus we haven't quite yet figured out how to all make it work behind the scenes" malarkey.

You know, there is a day coming when the BGS will have a proper AI, as in a neural network machine learning "brain" like Google (Alphabet) and others are working on. Someone has already created an AI that can write a novel that fools humans into thinking another human wrote it. Make such an AI that has full knowledge of the BGS stats, along with general player "mood", and let it dynamically create thousands of dynamic stories for players to interact with. This day may not come until I'm in a nursing home, but boy will I have fun in that nursing home playing this game!

I 100% disagree. It should be very rare. Otherwise its not interesting at all. Nothing is special if every player can easily see it and it the fundemental problem with the story in all other MMOs. They are all meaningless because every player sees the same damn things. If your friend can ask, have you gotten to x event yet. That event is the opposite of spectacular. Whats spectacular about something everyone eventually sees? Its not exciting to experiance something i know is scripted to happen to me.

Now, that is a good point. Without social media and forums external to the game itself, how many people would know this is happening?

GalNet needs a major QoL overhaul, methinks.

GalNet is only used to give players a nudge in the right direction. The rest is pretty much the pinnacle of exploration, being among the first one to experience content and be able to make social media video and posts about your discovery. Then comes the official posts and newsletter articles giving credit to the person and giving a developer-written point of view.

And those methods should be more 'in-game'. If not (just) on Galnet, then as items up-front in the docking info panel, in audible station announcements, in in-flight radio broadcasts, in text NPC dialogue etc. etc.

Agreed. Why is this not obvious to everyone?

.should be more then just thargoids..

I have been playing horizons now for about a couple weeks...finding out about these thargoids...really hope you can trade or possibly buy stuff from this civilization. It would be cool if their stuff was astronomical in price, 300 mill for certain things that the human race doesn't have or not technologically advanced to have it. I would hope its just not some race to fight...woopy do(they have been doing that since what.... the 80s) ...and there should be other races. but overall the game is fun, they just need a lot more development.

E3 announcement? still peoples are blind?

Remember the white knights during the days of beta when they say "it is ok to release now (too soon for many betatesters like me) the devs will put things in the game after" , remeber the white knights when the PP and ENG come in "it is funny and the RNG is a game content"... men at the E3 we will have the word END on the whole project... now you can bury me with negative commets, and the moderator can give me another ban... but the real thing is that I and many others have already realized that we can not have faith in a company 100% interested only in make millions of dollars from us gamers... but still white knights and roleplayers ( yes because roleplay is game content in ED... T.T ) are blind totally blind.

Thargoids? only another NPC to farm... no more seasons pass? the game is in maintanece mode, a product near to the end of life... open your eyes please and stop to put your money in a dying project.

I'd be happy in the near/medium term for the BGS being able to track frontlines and fleet resources, spawn and move persistent alien, mega- and capital- class ships in accordance with current 'war goals', and the ability for orders of magnitude more CQC-derived structures and asteroid bases to be seeded across the bubble, without apparently needing major server/Stellar Forge shenanigans. Also more 'dressing' around stations to give flavour to system states (e.g. visible trade megaships near stations in boom, medical ships in outbreak, cap ships in major war zones/blockades, wrecks and derelicts in retreat etc.

I like that we got a new piece of the puzzle with Thargoids. It looks epic. But it would be cooler if we could actually do something rather than sit and watch a scripted scene repeat itself.

The alternative view is that they have only just got started. It comes from a more authoritative source ;)

Yes, I have read it, and I have posted some ironic posts about Announcements and Future Announcements, and I have no issue with saying the game requires a rework, and that what is intended has not yet been revealed. But at the same time, I take issue with what is written in red, "no more seasons pass" and "the game is in maintenance mode," and "a dying project." It is your opinion, and you have every right to state it as your opinion, but it is not fact and was definitely denied by Zac in that post.

Back on subject, the next Alien development is, yes, following a pattern of scripted scenes. Yet, we had a lot of fun watching the informal livestream tonight on what may be a bugged alien, (or an alien parked as a tease ?). We got the chance for the first time to study it up close.
Incredible detail and thought has gone into that model.

I am inclined to believe that that level of effort will get its opportunity to emerge as this game progresses. You exhibit youthful impatience and are eager to see it all get going, but this also results in your seeing the glass as less than half empty. I, on the other hand, through the tiredness of age am inclined to see it half full and will patiently wait for it to develop.

Funnily enough time is more on your side, than it is for me !

Well, you know my thoughts on that. Two+ years to improve gameplay and depth, and instead we've had simplistic bolt on after simplistic bolt on, which, IMHO, means if the Thargoids attack now we're in for a very dull time as the game simply can't leverage anything of true interest and depth with the mechanics it has to utilise :(

Got to hope at least any Thargoid gameplay is delayed until after the core improvements that were recently announced. Hopefully they'll beef up some mechanics and gameplay!

Been hearing this one since last year when winter was coming...I still remember fondly those few misguided souls leaving exploration expeditions to get better armed cos they genuinely thought, and defended the view on the forums, that anyone not ready before xmas would be target practice fer aliens.

Well, that worked out well in the end and left a few folks with no excuses left to argue over some 9 months on at the start of summer.

The hype machine got broken...FD themselves broke it. Im not as salty as the guy ye quote, but through that wall of salt, he does have a good point ^

Is Frontier Stalling Thargoid Content till E3 or PS4 Release?

Maybe they are perfecting it?

Yeah, it's not unusual for game companies to time content or in game events based on E3 or new platform launches, but I'd also like to have it now :-D

Well since nothing in the game universe reacts to anything or has any sort of convincing depth, the only way most even know that "something" is happening is by visiting the forums, which is utterly stupid.

Now, that is a good point. Without social media and forums external to the game itself, how many people would know this is happening?

Hence why they resorted to Ed Lewis reading out expositionery text and sending an email to all players to tell them what is happening.
