Each little thing that has been happen, telepresence, new camera, ship-launched fighters, flowerships in space, and now flowerships coming to barnacles for refuling, is leading up to something. In the other thread, I posted the thought that now that we know they're coming to visit barnacles, we still need a way to shield our ships from the disabling effect these things have on us. I'm guessing that there'll be an announcement of a CG that'll help produce a way to protect our ships from that effect.

Once we have that way of remaining "active" in the presence of these ships, there'll be more interactive stuff happening than you ever wanted. Probably too much.

Be careful what you wish for..... ;)

Leading somewhere? Ye...up the garden path. Think about it...the timing of it so close to E3...their past history doing the same thing couple weeks before big update releases.

Players go 'ooh aliens' and shotgun it all over the internet in an effort to build hype...they certainly have the form fer these little stunts.

Coincidence? Gotta say Im surprised...didnt think they would play their last ace so soon...thought they would have another shot at some sorta CnP mechanism before playing the alien scene out.

Hmmm. Let's wait and see about that.

.. have you noticed AI proficiency of late? There's your answer. Depends on whether MoM is allowed to make our invertebrate friends somewhat pants changing, or not, really. I'm going to go with "not" based on previous outcomes.

Well Thargoids have to be accessible to.....

Non horizon/Mac players
Players that don't want to grind engineers
Players that aren't very good at fighting
Carebears

This is the issue - the AI can't be hard because people won't be able to fight them and win all the time and johnny always needs his little gold star.

Something is already out there making short work of Federal Corvettes, and I dont think its the Empire.

This is another point - if they're tearing up corvettes and you come in and beat them easy, then how did the corvettes get beaten so easy? How are the Thargoids going to be against players without mods and players with mods?

I dunno how FDev are going to get around that gaping wide fissure they created.

It's almost like they're supposed to be rare...

Dude, it's a game. We don't play to be bored, or get jealous that some lucky sod got to see something other than a lifeless rock.

Quit being so selfish.

I agree! ...... I all honesty i am done with half finished features i think are bare bones and hope to be fleshed out in the future..... esp when releasing like this makes it harder to put right in the future.

so given the choice i would rather wait an extra - 6 months or so and get it done right, with FD slipping in a few little teasers like the current hyperdictions to keep it interesting.

if it gets too much, simply put the game down and come back later... its kind of what i am doing - still playing but fairly infrequently now.

It's funny because back in the past, everyone was screaming "FDev take the time to get it right!!!"

it only took around 2 years before peopel caught onto the fact that they've never taken the time to even finish stuff, let alone get it right.

I was thinking about it, and that tech must already exist. Otherwise how would we be seeing fleets of human ships obliterated? The Thargoids ignore CMDRs so far, likely because they can disable us. I figure those destroyed ships must have had some tech that made them a potential threat to the Aliens, which means they must have been able to maneuver.

Another issue I just thought about.

In these cutscenes and scripted events that FDev don't do because it's a "sandbox" and doesn't hold your hand....

Where is this technology they have to shut down your power just like that? Where is the technology that's going to be discovered to defend against it.

Right now, if a thargoid attacks you your power wil lgo off and you'll die. That's a fact. If that isn't happening when we get to fight them - why not? Do you think FDev are going to let them disable you like that? No?

Then explain the new tech that will have to be made to defend against it or will it just be another thing they didn't think about and they'll blurt out "reasons"

additional: LOL it seems other beat me to it ;)

I have a feeling that Dr Palin will discover something that'll be instantly forwarded to shield everyone's reactor to prevent it from going off-line. Just a guess. Someone will figure it out and it'll be distributed to everyone (or you'll have to go somewhere and have it installed).

They're "dripping" this out (as someone else accurately pointed out) little bits at a time.

Remember: We don't know what caused three of their ships to crash. This one came in for meta alloys (?) to possibly fix problems that MIGHT have been caused by having UA's on board (remember crash site 2 and 3 had them scattered around but we don't know if the flower ships are seeding these things around in space or if they just scooped them up and rusted from the inside causing them to crash).

Also, those points in space where you show up as a flower ship is leaving and find a large number of navy ships in ruins - hints that something is in the works, like the thunder you hear in the distance before you see the clouds, that calm before the storm.

Everyone wants it "NOW". Hell, I'm still on my way back from Sag A* (13k LY to go). I'm in no hurry for this thing to break.

It's getting weirder and weirder.

Someone just posted this video.

Wow, a different angle and others in the same instance.

Also, please take a close look at the 7:15 mark. What's that from the ship? A spider web??

Its a bit like Chinese water torture from back in the good old days...quite amazing what that does to ones sanity, never underestimate the most simple solutions.

Speaking of solutions...I feel a mind numbing fps will sate my appetitie fer pain and salt tonight...Ill check back when they actually do something more than pose fer the cameras ^

Well since nothing in the game universe reacts to anything or has any sort of convincing depth, the only way most even know that "something" is happening is by visiting the forums, which is utterly stupid.

Now, that is a good point. Without social media and forums external to the game itself, how many people would know this is happening?

GalNet needs a major QoL overhaul, methinks.

Anyone who is interested will find a way to get info. Those who are not will keep on playing the game as they always do. More GalNet news flashes are useless to those that don't read GalNet.

Your original question was: Is Frontier Stalling Thargoid Content till E3 or PS4 Release? Today we see images of an alien ship hovering above barnacles. So the answer is a definite NO.

Time to close the thread.

Things react, but too much in the 'abstract' only noticeable through state changes in the BGS. Just not at the 'micro' level, so you could actually see changes with physical assets in the system, or at the 'magno' level, such as having the superpowers actually push fleets around in response to events. 'Big' events really need to happen at multiple points within a system, or across multiple systems, rather than all of this funneling players to single points for the pvp'ers to have their fun.

And such events need to be driven by the BGS, rather than having to be 'hand injected' all the time. And at some point they *really* do need to be interactive. Rather than all of this "we'll disable the ship, and make it a cut scene 'cus we haven't quite yet figured out how to all make it work behind the scenes" malarkey. There's 'drip feeding' and there's 'being led up the garden path' - heck, even walking simulators have faster pace. :)

And those methods should be more 'in-game'. If not (just) on Galnet, then as items up-front in the docking info panel, in audible station announcements, in in-flight radio broadcasts, in text NPC dialogue etc. etc.
